As many people here know one of the worst enemies we run into on a some what regualar bases is a mage gone evil. The ones who are worse than the very demons and devils we fight to protect people. I have had the displeasure of fighting three now, one having been my wife, a second an old friend gone insane with power lust. And now a complete stranger who was going to bring a greater vampiric entity to our realm, a always pleasent experince.
My day was going as well as could be expected since I was out crawling the old occult shops and other bookstores one can find mystic text and information guides in if one knows what they are looking for. I happened into a sop I had always had luck getting tomes on various rituals and reference material for spells and demn lore, a very wild man was screaming at the old shop keep to bring him a tome I know is not a book to let out unless you want trouble. I asked why he would want the tome and he tried to fry me with a blast of heat, I was unharmed as I had already cast my armor spell. THis seemed to aggitate the mage and all hell broke loose in the next few minutes as we dueled to gain an advantage over the other. My last spell seemed to have a effect on the man as he screamed then vanished, I was carfully watching the area and he reappeared in the door behind me and charged with a knife. We had both spent our stores of mystic energy, and he was trying to get me the old fashioned way. My mentor always spoke of being a inventive and open minded mage, to try new things and learn from those who had more experince than I. So I took a page from Mr. Caliburns book, I had gone out and purchased a handgun and took a course in it's use and saftey. I also passed the conceled carry course for my state. Needless to say the knife did not win the gun fight. When the police arrived it was declared a case of self defense and rendering aid to the old shop keep. They have my firearm till the grand jury hears the case, so I am out to going out to get a new one tomorrow to keep as a back up in case this happens again
By the way has anyone come up with a way to deal with Mr. ahem "Asshat" ? I was looking for a tome with information on the dream demons but had no luck finding one. And KT if you are going to try and face this thing in a dream please contact me I may have a few things to help you.
