It's a very real possibility that he did more than believed. Carter claimed to have seen one.

JFK knew something that nobody wanted to be let out of the bag.

There's lots of theory, but anybody who knows the real truth hasn't come forward with enough proof to be totally credible.

When one has the right story and the right evidence, he'll die. Probably before he gets the chance to present.
