Halloween presentation spooks locals

Phantoms and Monsters brings us this story of a small town spooked by a real witch practicing their craft in front of children. A lack of understanding and possibly the influence of movies turned what was a simple presentation into a small town uproar.

Miscommunication strikes again. It sounds like the whole matter is being seen through differing lens on semantic reasons. What is a “real” witch? I’ve always heard it’s a man or a woman who made a pact with the devil (or as the case may be, a devil) for power. But apparently Mr. Freeman sees real “witches” as good and caring people.

It’s sad though that there is so much anger and revulsion. Hopefully, Mr. Freeman won’t let this setback keep him down. His version of “witchcraft” sounds very appropriate—honoring the dead shouldn’t be viewed as wrong.

I would think Barbaranne Warner would be able to clear this all up, though.

In all honesty, the term "witch" is a very loose one and can be attached to several types of cultures and ethics.

In this case... yes, this is a good witch (Dorothy would be relieved).
