Before Natasha says I'm a softy, I'll just go ahead and say that I'm not.
She's confused my desire to protect children as a soft spot for them.

Wanting to protect children isn't a sign of softness, it's a sign of strength.

It's more than that and you know it Kolya.
Just waiting for you to admit it. This always an interesting personal conversation of Kolya vs. Psychology. Probably something for Philos Corner, if he agrees to it.

Well, if you ever feel like abandoning the celibacy vow, you won't exactly be at a loss for dates.

Alright, guys. Let's not forget that this is also a dedication... Too much disrespect has already been shown in the delays that... I've had in getting the story up...
Logos and I went down the hallway, to where we heard the yelling. As we entered the hallway, we saw something odd. It looked like zombies eating other zombies...
It's stupid, but I froze. I never wanted to believe that zombies of all things are real - it's a terrifying thought. Zombies are people, people that other people once, and probably still, love, only.. bastardized and twisted representations of those departed. I saw this scene before me, and something in the pit of my stomach started twisting and writhing, and I felt sick. I just can't imagine anything more undignified than to be turned into something like that after death... Yeah, I know, strange, isn't it? Zack is supposed to be the sentimental one here.
I'm ignoring that one...
I emptied a clip into one of the zombies, which I later discovered to be not a zombie at all. I think Pendragon said Grave Ghast or Ghoul, or something like that. To my surprise, the creature was only knocked backwards into another zombie, and I had drawn their attention to myself and Logos. I reloaded my gun, and realized that I only had several clips left for my SMG - I had not planned on there being so many problems in a building this size, it was insane! I holstered the gun and pulled out my nightstick. The ghouls seemed to move faster than one would expect something like that to move, so I nervously stepped forward to meet one.
Kor had yelled at me, to move on past this room when his gun didn't work. Still nauseated, I wasn't about to ignore his demand, but I fortunately still had the sense to wonder how he planned on getting past those two alone. I came to the sickening conclusion that he wouldn't be able to. Shaking my head, I leveled my gun on one of the ghoul's heads, and fired several shots. It didn't disable the creature, but it slowed somewhat. Remembering our training for infiltration situations, I knew that If Zack and I were going to get through this, it had to be together.

Sorry, Pendragon, Angel, I understand why you wouldn't want to continue sharing this story. We'll do our best to finish it off quickly.
Getting through the room was a bit of a blur, but we ran as quickly as we could to the other side, before shutting the door and barring it. They were much tougher than even I expected, and from the walking dead, I expected quite a bit.
We came into what appeared to be some sort of family room at some point, now converted into a barren and bloodied room of horror. Unlike the other rooms I had seen to this point, the carpet hadn't been pulled in here, and congealed blood had made the air in here even more rancid than I care to remember. Not all of the blood was dried, either, and the occasional footstep would bring a squish sound to your ears. This, however, wasn't the first thing that I noticed as I entered the room, with clawing sounds behind me on the shut door.
I saw it first - What had to be a sociopath or a vampire stood with a bloodied sword in hand, grinning with dirty fangs bared on at Kor and I. A teenage corpse lay slightly behind her, the form laid awkwardly and twisted.
"So many visitors tonight. I'm so very happy you could make it. You've no idea how dreadfully boring this house can get with no one new visiting..." she said, starting in a disgustingly sweet voice. Without seeming to change her tone or anything, though, her voice suddenly took a much more sinister edge, "If it's all the same to you, though, I should like to skip the formalities and continue our soiree!"
Without hesitation, I pulled the trigger.

Alright, Logos actually isn't here at the moment, but she's gone ahead and written what she wanted said, so I'll take care of the next portions of the story...
The vampire reeled, clutching her chest, "Y-you shot me!" She stammered, "How dare you-... " She was cut off by another gunshot, this time, Logos was aiming for the face. Growing annoyingly indignant, she growls out, "At least you could have let..." I unleashed a burst of fire onto her myself this time.
It hadn't occured to me that by then, the ghouls had ceased to claw at the door, Logos let me know later on. The two of us scattered out, firing on the superhuman one-person-army. Practically floating, the vampire ran to me, a look of mock indignation across her face, mixed with what can only be described as boredom. She raised her hand to strike at me with her unarmed hand, and I raised my gun to block her. An instant later, my UMP smashed into the wall as I clutched my arm in pain, stepping back as quickly as I could to avoid a second strike as her arm came back towards my face. I heard crunching as I fell back onto my bag of supplies, and I looked up in horror as she raised her sword above her head, the same emotionless, arrogant, bored look on her face.
Logos ran towards her with a yell, throwing down her gun, and tackled the vampire with amazing speed and force. The vampire's sword thudded as it hit damp carpet. Logos hit the vampire again, making a clearly audible thud as the vampire's head struck ground, again and again. She, the vampire, grabs Logos' fist, and with what started to appear like effort, forced Logos to twist with her wrist.
Gunfire outside the room grew louder.
I started rummaging through the bag, desperately looking for the stake - it had been a mistake not to pull that from the beginning. I look up long enough to see Logos get thrown about a meter away from the now angry vampire. She goes to get her sword, and Logos rushes her again, tackling her from behind. At that moment, my hand came across the stake, and I pulled it and was on my feet, running towards the melee. I went to thrust it into the vampire's chest, just as she looked over at me. I felt a sudden need not to stab the vampire.
Logos continued to strain against the vampire, doing her very best to keep from getting stabbed. She kicked the vampire in the stomach hard, buying her just enough time to move to me. I felt compelled to keep her from grabbing the stake, and slashed it at her. She caught me by the wrist, and wrenched the valuable bounty from my hand with little effort. She turned in time to take a sword to her shoulder with a scream of pain. The vampire chose then to take my compulsions away from me, and I found myself free to do as I needed once more as Logos fell to the ground, panting and gasping painfully. The vampire grins and stares me down, "I doubt I'll even need this for you, " She scoffs as she throws her sword down into soggy carpet. I pulled out my night stick, and charged her. The vampire took a hard hit to the face again, with no more effect than it had any other time we had hit her, and I took an even harder hit to my stomach.
I gasped as I hit the ground next to Logos, still writhing in pain on the ground - she was in shock. I rolled over to Logos to grab the stake, and rose to my feet. The vampire smugly states, "You do realize that I'm not going to let you touch me with that thing."
I charged the immortal sadist again, this time landing face first into the carpet, the stake still firmly in my grasp. The door suddenly burst open, and Pendragon and Angel stood on the other side, weapons at the ready. Angel fired on the vampire while Pendragon adeptly changed his clip to fit the situation in seconds. The vampire had turned to face the new intruders - a big mistake. I ran to her side, and swung the fist bearing the stake into her chest. I didn't have time to watch her die, however, as I ran to get my bag of supplies, and then to Logos, who had calmed down due to blood loss. As I pulled my suture, and as Pendragon went to finish the job on the Vampire, a loathed voice emanated from a dark corner in the room, "Good to see you again, Boss."

My greatest regret is how mechanically I responded to simply hearing that voice again. My handgun was out in an instant, my suture needle was quickly lost to the filthy carpet.
"Jeremiah, what the *ahem* hell are you doing here? Haven't you *ahem!* done enough already?"
"Oh, no, Zachary. I haven't done nearly enough. I haven't touched that red-headed whore of yours yet, for example..."
Angel yelled for me to stop. Her spirit guide had already figured it all out. It didn't matter to me then. I'd been threatened by this man far too many times.
...
James lay sputtering for breath, bleeding profusely from his chest, while I stood helplessly watching Angel hold her brother. I'd punctured a lung, and with the way he was acting, I knew I had just murdered a comrade, a friend, and most importantly, Angel's brother.

The conversation between the two is something I'm sure will haunt me to my death bed. I can never forget the suffering I've inflicted. Angel, if you don't want this up, feel free to tell me so. I'm going to immortalize what Angel and James said, after...
The gunshot exploded in my hands, and a familiar form collapsed out of the shadows. I knew at the moment he hit the ground the mistake I had made.
Angel rushed up to James, and as she collected him into her arms, she quietly spoke to him, "Oh, God, J, hang on, I'll get you to a hospital..."
James rasped out... frequently having to stop to gasp in pain ,"i doubt i'll... make it, su"
Angel screamed at this point. It was only natural that she wasn't willing to lose the closest family she had, "NO! Stop that! I can't lose you too. You're all I've got left! You HAVE to be all right!!"
I'll never forget the bravery it must have taken for him to comfort her in a time like that, "su," he whispered, "it'll... be ok. i'll...you'll...be fine...when i'm gone..."
Angel, the tears streaming freely by now, tried to keep him alert, "J, please!! Don't go, please!! I just found you again, don't leave me!"
James uttered his last words. His face was unnaturally pale, where such health had been only minutes before. He was coughing, his lungs trying to expel as much... fluid as possible, but he still managed to get out, " i...love you. i'll...always... love you...rose... "
His rhythm of pained wheezes quieted some as he tried to relax. This was too much for Angel to take, and she started dragging her brother towards the car, "The car! We have to help him! Pendragon, please!"
I stood there, dazed, watching it all happen as if I were dreaming.
Pendragon took control again, "Zack, Get back to Logos! Listen, Angel, we'll see what we can do from here, but we don't have time for that. We have to finish our..."
"Fuck the mission! J needs help!"
Pendragon was stern as he stated, "Put your brother down, you're right, he needs help, and dragging him around isn't going to get him that help."
I, however, had dropped to my knees, my pants already stained with rotten bodily fluids. I dug into my kit and realized my needle was gone. I frantically started searching and finally found it again. As I held up a lighter to sterilize the needle, I looked down on Logos. Her breathing had already been shallow, but it had definitely gotten weaker. I wiped down the needle with an alcohol wipe and prepared a new thread for the suture, and looked at the needle again. It needed to be sterilized. I held up a lighter to sterilize the needle, and wiped it down with an alcohol wipe. As I prepared another thread for the suture, I looked at the needle. It needed to be sterilized.
I heard a scream from behind me.
Pendragon mumbled out, "He's gone, Su..."
I stopped and took a breath. I threaded the needle, and looked at it once more. I knew it was clean, but...
"No." I said quietly. The needle began working it's way around the large wound.

Guys, Heather is just trying to get the facts straight and down in writing and to verify what we would verify had none of us been there. Please don’t bite her head off just because she hasn’t been as emotionally involved as we.

Regardless, this thread is still a dedication to a man who died. Seeing as it was my fault it happened, I'm not sure it's my place to say this, but show some respect here. If Heather wants to state that she feels we are or may be no better than Charles Manson, it's her right, but there are countless other places for that. This isn't one of those places.

Respect and courtesy go a long way. I'm no expert on the law, but I'd think the stuff you've written down already would be pretty condemning should your buddies at the station start poking their noses around.

You're absolutely right, Ron, Ethan... At this point, the best I could have hoped for was a successful plea to self-defense - under tort-law, assault is defined as any action which brings to another a fear of theirs or another's well being. The records must show that he was armed, and forensics would show that given the time of death, he was invisible to the naked eye, given the lighting condition. The eye-witness accounts showed that he had been speaking in an extremely threatening manner. With as many "gangster" corpses in the area, threat of imminent death was a given.
The trial was a long one, and I've revisited the scenario countless times on paper and in my head... The court processions are all public, so if it's alright, I'd like to pass on giving every gritty detail of my group's trial (The others were thought to be accomplices). I won't stop the others, Logos, Pendragon, or even Angel, should they like to continue the story, but the whole situation is very sensitive, even still.
