Hi Ken,

Many mysterious natural events were once interpreted as being the work of magic and have thus continued to receive that label.

Unless of course you mean literally.

I don't mind the cicadas much. Though the only thing magical about them is how amazingly loud they can get.

I wonder how much potential psychic energy each possesses and how many would have to be sacrificed for a significant infusion of power?

Considering how many die on a nearly annual basis without severe consequences or apparently effects, I'd say the answer would be 'a lot'.

My friend Lin is quite happy - apparently molted cicada skin is a popular element of Traditional Chinese Medicine, mostly for tea.
