Haunted Road

Post by auyl »

Everyone has probably heard of items being haunted or having spirits attached to them. Such occurences bring about the idea of haunted houses or amulets. In my area there are stories of a road that is haunted. I was skeptical at first until I went to the road myself. I was shocked at what I saw. Glowing orbs and apparations floating across and down the road during the dark of night. I am baffled at how to deal with the situation. The area is saturated in activity and nothing I found would suggest at what is causing the massive haunting. What explanations could there be?

What Lies Beneath?

Post by Rowan »

Your description is new to me—though not unheard of. In my travels, I have seen haunted groves, stones, lakes—even rivers. Is the road a deathtrap—numerous accidents each year? Or could it be something underneath the road that attracts—whatever it is you see?

These are just my thoughts—I am by no means an expert. Since no one has offered, either—welcome. It’s always good to see new faces.

This never occured to me, but is completely plausible. I will have to revisit the road to investigate further as well as dig up some news articles to see the history of the road itself.

Well ain't someone Mr. Buzzkill.

My mother once told me an old story her mother told her, about similar events along a highway in far east Russia. The M56 "Lena" Highway is more or less just a dirt road. My grandmother used to tell her stories of similar lights and weird events.

The locals claimed they were ghosts of travelers who died on the Lena Highway, she said. Others said weird Soviet experiments.

Where is this road, anyway?

Just outside a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. A place called Woodstock. I've done some looking around and haven't been able to locate any recent stories of deaths along the road. Doesn't mean they didn't happen in the far past that were either forgotten or not recorded.

Getting records isn't always easy, but did you check local state offices to see if any Aboriginal burial mounds or graves were disturbed in the building of the highway?

I doubt there are any state offices in Southwestern Ontario Canada. And Aboriginal Affairs are a Federal ministry. There is also a provincial ministry.

I believe that area was home to the Oneida People if you want to pursue that avenue of investigation. Woodstock is about half way between London and Mississauga, both of which still have Onieda communities and administration offices.

There are a couple of local paranormal investigation groups that may also be able to help you. They are the Toronto and Ontario Ghost and Hauntings Research Society and the Paranormal Knights of London.

Here's a lead for you. In 1886, a girl named Collins was buried alive in the area by mistake (it was thought she was dead). The story was reported in the January 18th New York times.
This account used to belong to someone else. Now it's mine. My first post on this board begins here.

I'll definitely check with the Oneida offices in the area. There is an Iroquois reserve just south of London and they have a history of being ver militaristic. Maybe an ancient native battle happened in the area that causes so many of these orbs and lights to appear.

People often mistake me for that.
But in reality it is the truth that is the buzzkill.

No, the truth is the truth - the answer isn't what makes one cry or happy, it's how you see it.

Maybe you just view the world through ash-tinted lenses.
