I'd say you lead a charmed life if you hadn't gone out a third story window. No wonder leading an exciting life is considered a curse.

Maybe you should write up a war story before this thread is completely derailed?

I don’t pretend to be a saint or a hero, or a good-person for all those are but just empty words. I am just a man doing a job that was paid for. And may HEAVEN ALL MIGHTY help the thing that gets in my way.

When fear rears it's ugly head before you, sometimes you must run, sometimes you must hide and sometimes you just walk right up and smite the S%*t out of it.

“Demons run when a good man goes to war.
Night will fall and drown the sun when a good man goes to war.
Friendship dies and true love lies.
Night will fall and the dark will rise when a good man goes to war.”
A man who like myself has been seen many times in many places told me this.

Are you back or just here for a visit?
Should we welcome you back, Shang Li? I myself am too new to this place to make it a significant statement, but I can try nevertheless.

Significant isn't determined by seniority, but by verbal eloquence - at least, that's how I see it.
Nice to see you're still alive, Master Shang.

That rules me out by that standard as well—I’m as eloquent as a petrified Ironwood stump.

Even ironwood has its place to be heard - usually when hitting something big and nasty over the head.

I would tend to think of anything petrified as being an echo of the past.

Re: Important Cliche's (because they are so oft true)
Perhaps we should gather for tea sometime soon.
I am alive, and in good health, although I am still no master.
I miss the friendships I developed here, but as my understanding of things grows, so do the demands on my time.
The desire to wish someone well is all that is needed for welcome.
Not all echos of the past are fossilized......
I must go for now, I am needed in Tibet, and delay only allows my foes to become stronger.

How can everyone gather for tea if you're in Tibet, Mr. Li?

Alas, but an old foe struggles free in the prison once built for him. I shall come to tea as soon as I am able.

I don’t drink tea, but I’d be happy to make something else .
”Better late than never” came to my mind why I read Shang’s post about needing to go to Tibet, but that cliché just sounds so . . . cold and unfeeling.
Sometimes the only thing to be done is to feel one’s way through the darkness.

"A military man can scarcely pride himself on having 'smitten a sleeping enemy'; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack."
