Center for Disease Control's Zombie Outbreak Plan

Post by Ron Caliburn »

Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse

Unfortunately there are a few key points missing here. It doesn't talk at all about how to escape a zombie infested area, how to defend yourself from zombies and known weaknesses of zombies.

As usual the government is just whitewashing the issue. Make people think that just having an emergency kit will help them out but obviously in the case of the Zombie Apocalypse you need transport and weapons.

Fortunately the planned end of the world today didn't happen. Even better it wasn't a Zombie Apocalypse. People following this advice would have still been horribly under-prepared for the fight of their lives.

That's why I rarely listen to the feds Ron. I have had my Zombie plan in place since I was 9. Never fought any as of yet but my grand father was paranoid about the undead rising up, so it was part of my training from the start. Not that it did him much good in the end.....

Also Ron, is it possible to buy ammunition from you still? My supply is getting low and I can't go back to my old sources for resupply anymore. Also we would need to talk about payment since my funds are not what they used to be.

Not looking for anything to fancy, I am hoarding the specialty rounds I have left to me. Just need some .50 cal, 12 gauge slug, 9mm and 10mm. Let me know if you can help me out.

Mostly things that go boom or can be used to power reactors. I know those calibers are not among the most common but they are still available to the general public.

Pistol, not much of a long range guy.

Not much of a close range girl, myself. They're just as dead if you're a mile away as when you're ten feet away.

I was going to say, .50 BMG? Really.

Anyway, .50 AE, .500 S&W or something else?

He Ron...... Are you per chances in the near the med west or the Ohio River Vally, If so I was wondering if you might check out my old Webley mark 4 Service pistol.. it should be in working order and I do try to maintain it... I just want to make sure its in good order.... also for some reason I seem to be having trouble finding shells or can I us 45 long colt or .45 ACP? Or should I upgrade to a new side arm if so to what?

I'm further east.

If you have one of the old .455 Webleys it is certainly possible to modify it to take .45 ACP or .45 Long, however it will stop being able to to chamber .455 if you do so as you need to modify the cylinder somewhat.

My strongest advise is to not make that change as it will remove virtually all collector's value of the weapon.

I would suggest a primary arm change as I am sure you've realized how hard it is to get stocks of decent .455 ammunition in this country. I think it may still be factory produced in India, but I wouldn't put that through a gun that most consider a collector's item. That leaves you to either hand-load or buy from somebody who does, th former takes up a lot of time (I know, i do a lot of it) the latter takes up a lot of your money.

Plenty of manufacturers are making self-loaders with high capacity magazines for .45 thee days. I might recommend Para-Ordnance's line if you want that retro 1911 feel or the Glock line if you are interested in something newer looking.

Incidentally, if you'd like I can take a look at the gun for you. Just send me a Private Message with which state you're in and I'll get you the details needed for legally shipping it to me and shipping it back. If I have to make any repairs or such I do those at cost for Society Members.

When governments fail, individual citizens occasionally step up. This site has good ideas for general preparedness in most situations. And they use a zombie theme in a tongue in cheek manner and yet you have to wonder if that's just so they can get it in under the radar.
