Don't forget that Mother's Day is just around the corner!

So that'll be two boxes of 100 round each coming to $20 million. And how will you be paying?

This is just a joke. Basic physics (both newtonian and nuclear) preclude this from actually ever working.

You guys know that the DU rounds are just used because of the extremely high density of DU and that its in a tungsten penetrator? It doesn't go critical when it hits - they just use it because its soooooo heavy per gram.

Sometimes you must look for what is hard to see.

And I'd like to point out that no one mentioned DU rounds here. The use of DU rounds is well known and documented.

How well do they work?

They work very well, especially if you can fire them at high enough velocities that they actually ignite.

As well as they work for the army, since they use them for hard penetration shots on buildings and bunkers.

There are DU rounds for .50 BMG, there's some detail here.

DU works good.

As Ronbo mentioned, a HV sabot round can actually get going fast enough to ignite and it burns ferociously. Goes through a tank like a hot knife through butter. Bad stuff to have coming at you.

It just does't go critical because the nuclear mass is too low. Its a chemical reaction, not a nuclear one.

Thanks, but this has been covered already and is nothing new. You're really just repeating yourself now to no purpose.

Like any joke, this was based on a preposterous notion. No one has taken it seriously because the concept is so clearly rubbish.

DU rounds not going critical is new or useful information to you, Benji? :P

Well Nemmy, I've never used them before. I know a few guys from back in the day who may have handled such munitions, but I never personally handled them. I wouldn't mind givin' them a go if I could acquire them.

But we all know that type of hardware is highly illegal in civilian hands.
