Wouldn't a nice quiet bow, or a thrown blade from a shadow do just as well as the gun?
Most places have laws about firearms, the laws on traditional weapons tend to be more leniant.

Understanding, is not a thing that comes swiftly, but rather in stages, a journey that once begun, must be seen to it's end.

Well sure, those would do just fine if ya were looking to assassinate someone but I tend to be confronting people/things when the situation turns confrontational. But I can certainly see the upsides to your more classic weaponry in a lot of situations.
As to legality, well, I've been searched a bunch of times and nobody ever says anything the gun I got tucked away so I figure they must be okay with it.

I suppose, if you say so.
What truely matters is that the weapon in hand fades away from the user's concious mind, becoming an extension of it's user's will.

As an LEO I am required be armed at all times. I carry a .45 OPSEC auto-loader pistol, a tazer, can of specially formulated " pepper spray ", a reinforced mag lite that I can use as a bludgeon, and a 12 gauge strapped to my crusier's dash board.
OI awlays keep a variety of 12 gauge and .45 ammo available at all time, as well as a good combat knife and a .30-06 hunting rifle with modified targetting scope are also close at hand.
I also have acquired Bert's old habit of keepin' a weapons locker of assorted goodies at several secure locations around the area. My .50 is only used for certain situations as the ammo is expensive and it use as a sniper rifle can be construded as a war crime.
The occasional flashbang, stungun, or non-lethal ordiance is also useful at time to have on hand when you just need to subdue a perp or simply " persuade " someone.

"Too serve and protect", somethin' bout that gets a lil' blurred when dealin' with the supernatural.
