Understanding the nature of worlds and veils

Post by Shang Li »

Once Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn't know he was Zhuangzi. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Zhuangzi. But he didn't know if he was Zhuangzi who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuangzi. Between Zhuangzi and a butterfly there must be some distinction!
Understanding, is not a thing that comes swiftly, but rather in stages, a journey that once begun, must be seen to it's end.

Hi Shang

I had a dream that woke up and stepped out into the real world. It hurt people and tortured people and was killed.

I think what is dream and what is reality is a lot closer together than what many would expect.

Hannah

PS: He's back out there still, I haven't heard from him in ages, and I'm kinda hoping not to . . . but I just know he's going to hurt somebody.

I will be who I chose to be.

Good to know.

But just out of curiosity, how much is it worth to you to locate this individual?

I couldn't put a dollar value on it, if you're wondering. Mostly because I can't afford what it would be worth to me. This freak wears my face and targets my friends and family.

This is one of those things that gets called owning the other fellow a big one, with interest.

Not all payments need to be in cash, as you're well aware Mr. Caliburn.

I'll keep my eyes open and if I see anything useful, I'll be back in touch.

I appreciate it.

Incidentally it is the one the Secret Handshake was specifically developed against . . . so far it's proved effective in identifying the monster.

Any other tells?

Mirror image, hair parted on the wrong side, walks with a limp now?

How about special talents or abilities?

He is able to pull people into their own dreams and attack them there. He also seems to have some ability to tap the same power source that my daughter can.

He's welcome to pull himself into my dreams. I've got things there that would make him seem like a puppy in comparison. As for how you kill him, well, I have always maintained that Hannah is the only one who can truly destroy him.

This tells me about all I need to know.

Namely, I won't be engaging. Dream invasion is just a little too Friday the 13th for me. If I spot him, I'm just going to tell you folks and you can handle him.

Hi Nemesis.

MJ is a real horror buff, whenever we get together for a movie night and it's her pick we end up watching some cheesy horror movie from before we were born. Peter likes movies from the 1980s too . . . though usually he wants to watch some kind of comedy or action films. The comedies are pretty funny but the action movies . . . didn't anyone in Hollywood in the 1980s know how to use a gun properly?

Hannah

PS: I think monster movies show about as much reality about monsters as action movies show about guns.

Well, to be fair to Hollywood, their monster movies aren't exactly marketed as documentries, you know?

And I'm afraid that Hollywood has ruined many an action flick for me.

But hey, that still leaves comedies and sci-fi! :D

(Drama is boring!)

Why must there be a distinction?

Both are merely different facets of the same illusion.

I am reminded of the story of Persephone.

Hades, while not death, is asscioated with it. I am also reminded of how Persephone came to be trapped in Hades. A similar condition exists for Hannah and her fiance, yes?

When it comes to these old tales, one realizes that they are merely retellings of the same tale. Repeating, in cycles throughout time.
