Strange actions from on The Hill

Post by Logan »

The oversight commitee has tripled our budget, and the scuttlebut has it that we are getting 90 new operatives over the course of the next year, almost tripleing our current feild presence.

At the same time the brass appears to be calling in more back up, they cut loose over 85% of our non feild personel. Lucy over in archives was the first one to go, she had a knack with cross referencing historical, religious, and anthropological records to get us a good picture of what was going on in the area of the next job. Charles in research was next, he always wanted live subjects, but when we could get them for him, he would always find a way for us to hurt the nasties if we run into that type again. Mason, our intell analyst was canned last week, he was quite good at going through the DR1313's and helping us track the more mobile perps, maching M.O.'s and forensic evidence to earlier cases. Max, our tacops co-ordinator was let go on sunday.

They are flooding us with untested troops, and cutting away our support structures. All the new folks seem to be military and SWAT trained, no intelligence training for any of them.

_____But you have more people out now right, Logan? And you can teach them to investigate right, Logan?

Indeed it is Bogs, it looks to me like either we are changing our targets, or undergoing a major shift in our M.O.

Caliburn, have your contacts been being gently forced out of service?

Grace, we will have more people in the field, but it takes many years to train a combatant for field investigation, it is much more efficient to train intelligence operatives and investigators for combat.

Solstice, it is not good news, my team has been nearly hamstrung when it come to going after non human targets.

Dawes, I have no counter or rebuke to your logic, normally I would object to being labled as a goon, however your assumption does fit with the available facts, so I can only hope you are mistaken.

Your job isn't at risk I hope? It sounds like the only saving grace of this strangeness is there's still a few good agents onboard.

[Robyn]

An increased budget along with cutting out the support required to succeed sounds to me like a scandal waiting to happen. Perhaps this is an attempt to set the stage for a disaster and the subsequent public backlash?

We've seen this kind of thing happen before.

I have several contacts in the DC area who of late have found themselves put on a mandatory leave, a few are being transfered to other locals, and a few have been it seems encourged to either seek retirement, or othwise been asked to quit. In not very polite terms either.

Hey Logan, I don't have any government contacts, but I know of a few decent places to hide if the heat gets turned on too high for your liking.

The loss of the support staff is the main issue. Without accurate intell on the opfor, casualty rates are going to become unacceptable very quickly. Without adequate research staff, we wind up missing patterns that can give us a jump on the opponent.

That's where we can come in...provided you don't mind some unconventional help.

My main concern is that they're axing staff at all... I have a union protecting my job, but my wife doesn't, and every time she talks about downsizing at work, I'm always concerned for her. In the same manner, I'm worried about what'll happen to your position, which is why I made the offer I did. Well, that and the fact that Robyn was right; it sounds extremely suspicious, like they're intentionally setting up for you guys to fail.

Well, lost 7 of 9 of the men on the DC tacresp team last night, something had been snatching little girls near Georgetown for about a week, local enforcement was pleased to hand us the case for us to "make it go away". Without solid intell they were loaded for either a mothman, or a boogie. From the amount of damage to the throats, and the lack of bloodspray, or blood pooling at the scene I would place the nasties as vampires, from the angles of the shots fired, I suspect between 4-5 perps. One survivor was bitten, the other is currently in ICU after getting major reconstructive performed on his rib cage.

I'll be back in DC in 5 hours, hoping the SOB that bit Wilkins was trying to turn him, gives us something to use as bait.

Tactical Response, I'm thinking.

Sounds like something that could have benefitted from more intel.

Well, we lost Wilkins, Davies, Carlson, and Michaels. At least we don't have to worry about them coming back.

Killed 4 leeches, the escapee seemed stronger and faster than the rest, as well as having a disturbing amount of psychological intell on our tacresp team.

Anyone who took me up on the use of our headshrink should reconsider - untill I can prove otherwise I have to consider that asset comprimised.

Caliburn, be carefull, the escapee knows the greater DC metro area very well, can pass for living fairly easily, and exhibited much greater strength, superior reflexes, and the intelligence to know when and how to mist out and vanish.
