I don't remember the technical name for what you are talking about, but the dagger is not one of those. The last time I saw one of those there was a entity that was visible to someone like me, and the dagger does not have that.
I do think there is something not normal about the dagger, and for that reason I am not walking around with it. However, the problems I was having lessened and then cleared up once I found the dagger and the papers. And the translation that I got was "To illuminate", but I think the others might be possible to. My translator was a friend that took latin 30 years ago in catholic school.
The first journal is translated and it is an interesting tale. It speaks of a Spanish explorer that found a temple. There was apparently locals that were performing human sacrifice and he stopped them in the name of God. By stopping them, I mean he and his fellows killed all the natives performing the ritual. He describes some of the statues there and they sound similar to the things I saw in the old town.
I am currently re-reading everything and making notes. I am going to try to confirm as much of the story as I can. See if the ship named actually existed and such. I will post more when I can.

Not too much back there, however getting a paycheck comes first though. Some of the cases I am working on currently require a lot of hours. So until they have been resolved for my clients I will not be able to work as much on the things that bring no income in.
It is not like this will be standing still either. I am getting an hour or so of research and reading in on average and occasionally I get a large chunk of time free to really dig into it.

I know, and I appreciate it. If it comes to the point where I need help, I will happily ask for it.
On the medical front, it does seem like things are getting better. Most of the problems I was having seem to be clearing up. The doctors are claiming that I managed to get some strange viral infection that my body reacted badly too.

I've read through the next journal, and it seems like it is more of the same. This time it is record of a soldier written during the burning of Gumarcaj. The dagger is mentioned this time also. It belonged to a friend of the soldier and passed into the soldier's possession when his friend was killed.
The short of it is that they were sent to investigate the ruins of the city after it was burned. They found a underground temple that was inhabited by what sounds like our squid friends. They found that their weapons did not work and most of the party was outright slaughtered. The only weapon that had any effect was the dagger.
The two managed to survive the initial attack a few afterwards, but as they were escaping the soldier's friend was killed. The soldier managed to get the dagger and with it escape into the wilderness. Eventually he found his way back to the camp, but by then had taken sick with fever. He insisted that the doctor write everything down and send the dagger and the papers back to his family. From there it was to be sent on to the family of his friend.
Again, I am trying to fact check as much of this as possible. So far the first account seems to be mostly confirmed. The ship mentioned did sail at that time and the man was a member of the crew.

It appears so, what it was doing in that town is still a mystery though. The next journal that I have pieced together is from the early 1700's. In upper New England a farmer found wrote about a cousin that was tried for witchcraft and burned.
He was one of the members that went to arrest the relative and he talks to the horrors that they found. Apparently the cousin was working with some others to summon demons as he put it. Once of the creatures came through and in the fight the ensued they managed to kill it with the axes they had brought with them (I am fairly sure they were iron). However three of the group were killed.
The cousin and he friend's 'trial' was more of a mob lynching and the farmer was proud that he was the one that strung him up. Afterwards, they burnt the farmhouse to the ground. At the end of the entry however, the farmer notes that he did take some keepsakes of his family first.

Unfortunately, he doesn't go into much more details except keepsakes. I am figuring things that had been in the family. Perhaps the dagger was involved, or maybe it was the family bible and such stuff.
There is little though that I can use to confirm this tale. Almost no last names are used, or anything else to pin down locations. Perhaps one of the others will have more information.

I know it has been a long time since I was last on here, and a lot has happened. For one, the dagger is no longer in my possession. A small and cruel man to much joy in relieving me of it in South America. The only small comfort I have is that he no longer has two hands.
I am no longer located in Pittsburgh proper since there was a 'fire' that destroyed my house. My offices a week later was the victim of a 'gas-leak explosion'. I think I was simply given a message by the group the small man works for, but there is no evidence to back this up. However, there was little evidence of they claimed but plenty of what they would not admit.
I am spending a good bit of my time now trying to follow leads that have developed in the past few months. A lot of these take me off the beaten path and out of touch for weeks at a time. I will try to be better about checking in though.

I’m just glad to feel your signature on board again . . .
I’m just glad to feel your signature on board again, DarKnyht.
Sometimes the only thing to be done is to feel one’s way through the darkness.
I think the best message I can give is to continue what I am currently doing. I cannot speak much of current happenings but I will try to fill everyone in on past details that will not compromise things.
Here are some of the things that I can share. I am not cursed per say, I think the more appropriate term is marked or tainted by my experience. The effect is that I am drawn to places like the one we went to, to the darkness there. The resisting of this wears me down mentally.
The dagger seemed to be enchanted to disrupt this, but carried it's own burden. Again not knowing how to best to put it, the dagger demanded that I find and destroy the creatures. Refusal brought pain and illness.
So as I can said before I am not sad to see the dagger removed from my possession and to be free from it. However it did unfortunately leave me exposed to the taint.
