Susan . . . that’s all right. You’ve been through a trying time; and you bring up valid points. I’ve always wondered what I would do if no one had responded kindly to me? I would like to think I would have continued with my crusade, but . . . one never knows.

The fact that Miss Darken chose to fight the blood thirst and would have been unable to live with herself if she had harmed an innocent is why I say she was no longer a vampire but a human trapped in a monsters visage.

Besides that I am glad you came back and that Miss Darken is resting in peace.

Just for clarification I see you as a new person and yes I understand that you were once Miss Darken, but you are now Miss Solstice not only in name but body as well.

Ron, you just proved my point.

I just believe there should be an equal focus placed on helping those who need it as well as destroying things that truly deserve it.

Oh and Mr. Caliburn, do you have any idea how few being can survive having their abilities tested? In order to find the limits of their endurance you have to exceed those limits.

And no, I am not going to go into detail on the nature of such tests, although needed, they still make my blood run cold.

Hey guys, could I get you to back off from Ron, please? I know you mean well, but the fact remains that without him, I wouldn’t be here.

I understand your discomfort Ms. Solstice, and I apologise for causing it, but no I will not "back off".

I do not want him to begin to trust the enemy, the price is too high.

I do not want him to stop terminating subjects that pose an immediate threat, again the price is too high, and I cannot take his place, I cannot do the things he does.

I do not want him to start any kind of "live capture" program, although a steady stream of subject would be nice, the risk is too large.

All I want is for him to realize that there are more questions than "is it staying dead?" and "are there more nearby?" to be followed by an after action review.

I have lost to many friends to the lack of knowledge about our foes, and will lose no more to the same problem.

Kei, I think you and I are in total agreement, at least in that respect.

He won’t start trusting the enemy, believe me on that. Nor will he stop hunting, nor start a live capture program, and he does realize there are more questions than that. But he leaves it to people like you and me to answer them, Kei.

And we’ve all lost friends and family, so don’t think you’re alone. We’re all in this together, Kei. So there’s no reason to do it alone. If you ever want to talk about it . . . .

The problem is all of the "shoot first" reactions here, directly prevent getting both the answers I want, and the understanding of their natures to be able to "Make the public aware" which he claims to want.

Your welcome, I kind of know what it is like to become a new person. I wasn't born with my abilities. If you can imagine, waking up with the cieling crashing down on you in a nightmare only to wake up and realize you put a really big hole in the roof with a power bolt. Though I realize it is different, but I guess you have probably had more practice then I have this being your third incarnation and all.

That’s not the problem of getting the public aware. The problem is they vanish without a discernable trace. Ron is very realistic about it all. It’s the same reason not all police arrests are recorded: it would be too much of a hassle.

"Shoot first" is not Ron. If you knew him, you would know that. This is cyclical and comes up every few months, someone gets righteous and decides to label Ron something he isn't. Shrug it off, it will pass.

It is not me, either. I have destroyed a lot of things that might have been trapped, but without knowing how to contain something (beyond destroying it), I am not going to burn through men finding out that goat hair rope is the only material that cannot be broken by this particular creature. My responsibilities are to my troops and those we are protecting, not to those things which seek to harm them. If the foam works and the eggheads get something to examine, great. If not, oh well, the supernasty will not be missed.

And like our friends trying to cure the werewolf that have not been heard from in years, a few things pop up off the operating table and trash the OR before teams can bring the situation under control. It happens a lot.

Occassionally there are bodies. Those things that come from space rather than the supernatural often leave their bodies behind. I have a cryogenic warehouse full of them.

Mr. Greydawn tells me that one should make sure the alien or supernaturl being is a threat to the innocent before one decides to eliminate them for to eliminate them just because they are not from here would be the same as killing some one based on race, religion, or natonality. From what i have read Mr. Caliburn and most of the others here do just that if it isn't harming innocents then it doesn't even show up on thier radar so to speak.

Sure I can check fire and let the public become aware . . . but that would mean someone else doesn't go home tonight.

I ain't wandering out in the field in search of relics. I patrol the streets in the city trying to stop attacks before it's too late. I go hunting missing children in the sewers and hope that I find nothing but a child who crawled down a hole. I track news reports about strange deaths and go to put down what is doing the killing.

That's what I can do and what I will do until I'm too slow or too weak to do it any longer.

Kei, let me know what you need to know about... There have been people recording the weaknesses of creatures for the past four millennia, in various formats. If we put our heads together over the old texts, I'm sure we can figure out how to make you a lab capable of SAFELY containing these beasties.

I'm also sure that if you keep that information in mind, you can dissect and study them.

Just promise me you won't work on zombies... There are too many different kinds, created through too many different formats. They burn, most of them are vulnerable to holy water and artifacts, and you don't want any of them to bite you... In a lot of cases, they won't turn you into a zombie, but the microbes in those rotten mouths will be a major cause for concern. Personally, I think that's probably where the myth about being turned into a zombie comes from... The horrendous infections that come from being bitten.

Anyway, we can coordinate some time when I have some time to get together over the old texts, and start putting our heads together on it.

In my experience, there is very little in new monsters out there - just stuff that hasn't been seen in such a long time we've forggotten about them.

I couched my statement quite carefully with the phrases "In my experience" and "very little" to avoid an absolute statement.

Again, from my experience, most of what is out thee is stuff that has been around before and there exists information about it.

Forgive my bluntness, but it to me it does seem foolish, but then again Ron doesn't have the memories of an Alien Intel in his head. Not to mention a millenia old sword as a partner/weapon. They have, expanded my view of history, so to speak.

At least the sword has; the memories are really jumbled up, and confusing.

No, REALLY?

Seriously, though, I'd just like to point out that when I said people had a "point and click" mentality about all things, I was NOT making any personal referrences. I never accused anyone, just said the mindset needed to be changed. I wasn't accusing you, Kolya, or Ron. I was saying the mentality should change.

Ron is mostly right, though. Many things that seem new are actually incredibly old... Sometimes they were dealt with successfully in the past. Sometimes not. There are records of a number of different creatures that, it's hypothesized, may have been the same creature pretending to be killed in different ways, to fool future generations into thinking it could be killed by certain conventional means.

The chronicles exist for quite a few different creatures. Not all of them are written; some are still verbal hand-me-downs on the African plains, or in pictograph format on the walls of old temples.

Not all of them are accurate, and not all of them are easily understood, but Ron is right... Very few TRULY "new" creatures are coming around. Most of them are...for lack of a better word, "evolutions" of older nightmares and faerie tales.

Then there are guys like Кощей Бессмертный (Koschej the Immortal) that being immortal just hang out, even though the method of killing him is well known, it is quite the impossible endeavour.
