Unpleasant Surprises

Post by BraveSirRobin »

Chuck was the smallest of the Three Nerdketeers, back in the Home; 5'8", with a face like a cross between Adam Sandler and your typical brown rat. When my buddy Brandon (the mid-size Nerdketeer, with me in the XL slot) snuck his D&D books back after a weekend out, Chuck snuck in his dice and then kept complaining about the rest of us using up all his luck. Chuck was the kind of guy who would remind the rest of us of how obscure the anime he watched on the outside was while we were stuck with mere Cartoon Network drek. Chuck was an elitist, an asshole, and an all-around know-it-all. Chuck was also one of the three goons that showed up at my girl's house this morning. I recognized one of the others too... big guy (in the rare "taller than me" category), kind of skinny... couldn't remember his name, just that he broke my finger by way of my trying to catch his hail mary pass in a game of football (three days later, with my finger turning purple and swollen to two and a half times its normal size, the staff at the Home realized it MIGHT be broken and had me taken to a doctor for an x-ray).

why, yes, I'm posting this in chunks in case my computer dies... try checking back later?

signal... fading... computer power light... growing dim...
to be continued...

I think there's something funny going on here. And not "Funny Haha".

the thing about using humor as a defense mechanism is this: the funnier I am, the worse things probably are... :P

and no, there's no way I'm tapping the rest of the story out on my DS here, so you'll all just have to wait for my laptop to get charged again (stupid 1 spot of wireless out in the yard :x ).

I think most of us here have a rather off the wall sense of humor, as a means to try and cope.

Then bottoms up!

Robin, what happened after that? You're still posting, lately, so I know you're alright...

sorry... apparently, like the Martians, I have a weakness regarding the common cold: the last several days have been spent in a cheap motel going through... last count is three and a half boxes of Kleenex. haven't really been up for making any sizable posts.

I'm feeling much better now though, so expect an update tonight.

Going nut with it doesn't help, but adding a little extra to your diet doesn't hurt.

Echinacea is where it's at once the symptoms arrive - vitamin C might stop you from getting the symptoms in the first place

I don't really trust doctors, seeing as my dad is one.

I can still remember the last thing he said to me: "Maybe some day they'll come up with a name for what's wrong with you, and you can spend the rest of your life in an institution where you belong." All because I'd failed to meet his impossible standards once again. I'd like to see him get across Columbia, on foot, in time to get from a job interview that ends at three to another job interview that begins at three. I really shouldn't have been surprised though; it was the same kind of thing as when he threw me in the Home (you need to be involved in the clubs at school, Tim! no, you can't go to the drama club after school, you have homework, Tim!). Always struck me as a really dickish thing to do, throwing your own son into mental hospital you run.

I'll just pause here so some smart guy can go "dun dun dun..."

Don't think anyone here will do that. Only thing I will say is that is sounds like you, Ghost, Ron and a few others here had Dad's from similer schools of thought. Otherwise knowen as Majorly F'ed up.

I'm not really too familiar with medical law, but isn't it illegal (certainly unethical) for a doctor to practice on his own family? I hope your dad got MAJOR hell for it.

Even under the best situations it is a iffy thing, and Robin's was not the best situation.

I believe the loophole there was that, while I was in the asylum he was running, he was not actually seeing me as a patient... all my sessions were with some petty counselor.

Though I did get some lovely revenge by telling all his patients about how he prescribes himself viagra (which I'm pretty sure is also illegal, but he's not in jail yet, so what do I know?).

You can tag along, anyway... just as soon as I get this bug (the cold, not Stinky) beat, I intend to make a whole heap of it for him.

If it had been something more of a Narcotic nature, Then he would have been screwed. But Viagra, that would maybe get him a stern talking to.
If however you told your mom about it, and she didn't know anything about it? Well that could have caused some major issues, I think.

Mom... not so much, since they divorced before Viagra existed.

Second wife Debbie (a marriage which lasted a mere month), on the other hand...
