It took a while for me to cope with the new-found pain, and I saw why the creature was doing it. Some of his help was entering through the door, but at least they were without guns. I noticed the pool of fuel a few feet from me and grabbed for the lighter. I somehow managed to get it lit and throw it into the flames before blacking out.

Good instincts. So what happened when you came too? Escargot to go?

I am not sure what all took place in the warehouse after that. Someone pulled me out of the place. When I woke I was in the room I described at the beginning of it all, and under house arrest while the investigation was going on. Took them quite a few days to work it all out and get utilities working properly again.

Jim later told me that the owner had attempted to summon a creature to control his workers. The creature apparently double-crossed him and was planning on using him to bring his friends into our world. The children and most of the townspeople were to be a sacrifice to make it happen. When the creature died, apparently burned up, it released the people it was controlling. Oliver was life-flighted to Charleston, WV because of his wounds. They say he will be alright although he will most likely not walk right again.

Officially, the owner is charged with drugging the water supply. The drugs caused a mass hallucination that resulted in the madness that happened. I was cleared as acting out of self-defense in the shootings and the warehouse fire was listed as an accident.

So the boss summoned something to control minds and surprise his mind got controlled?

They sure don't make the bad guys any smarter these days.

I think the moron was too wrapped up in his delusions of grandeur to realize that he really wasn't the one in charge.

The man was book smart and street stupid. It cost me almost two weeks in time because of it.

I am more relieved that there isn't more of them. The one I dealt with was not as bright as it thought either. Thinking back there are about a dozen things it could of done differently that would of changed how this ended.

The people that would talk about it all said that the last thing they remember clearly is that they were bit by the creature. They said some people had to be bit multiple times, and those that were killed by it outright had been bit multiple times. They conflict on number of times the ones killed were bit, it ranges from two to twenty.

Most remember very little about the time after that, and most eagerly accepted the story of drugs. Those just claim that it was all a hallucination and won't talk about it at all.

Their behavior at first was to try to lead people to it, but not by force. Once there was enough of them they dropped that act and just rounded up the others. It for the most part left the children alone and focused on the adults. It apparently just used the adults to direct the kids to do what they wanted, such as yell if they saw us. The kids really didn't have a clue what was going on.

I wonder why it avoided the kids.

Maybe to possess them would have killed them?

I think it was going after people with authority and power. Children have very little of either and they could be controlled by the adults. There were bodies of some children found too, looked to be mauled by the creature.

I'm surprised it didn't have more control than that - should be able to get away with just a nip.

Energy, it was all about the energy. Read Dr. Lazlo's works, you will understand why the children were mauled and killed.

She is right the greater the fear in a person as they die, the greater the release of energy.
