Here is how the magic square code works in detail.

A odd-sided square can be formed easily, whether 3x3 or 3003x3003.

Find the middle square and move down one square, place 1.

Then move down one square, then move right one square, place 2.

Down, right, and 3, etc.

If you reach the edge, just wrap around to the opposite side.

If you stop at occupied square, then move down one square, then move left one square, place the number. Here is a simple 3x3, for demonstration. Magic number is 15.

Code: Select all

+---+---+---+
| 4 | 9 | 2 |
+---+---+---+
| 3 | 5 | 7 |
+---+---+---+
| 8 | 1 | 6 |
+---+---+---+

So, just replace letters for numbers and use coordinates as the code..

Code: Select all

+---+---+---+
| D | I | B |
+---+---+---+
| C | E | G |
+---+---+---+
| H | A | F |
+---+---+---+

The weather was strange last months. We almost not had snow for New Year's Day - my favourite day (and favourite of many Russians). It should get a tiny bit warmer during summer, but otherwise we have such cool continental weather.

I remember last year, first day of Spring in America there was bad ice storms in places. It was mentioned in some our intel reports, and for some reason it stays in myhead. I not know if it was investigated or not. I am sure someone did, but I never heard anything.

Hi Koyla,

It wouldn't be so good if Bert and Rose hadn't helped me out the last couple of days.

Hannah

PS: I hope I can visit y'all in Russia some day.

Hannah, hi -

I know Bert is very helpful. Just ask Sasha's friend. Haha.

From what I heard from Natasha (and seen in her behaviour) Rose is quite a piece of work, too.

You are welcome to come to Russia anytime. I can expedite the visa process, no problem. That goes for your Pa, too.

Russia is a huge country.

One of my American colleagues says that "the only good things in Russia are the women and the ice cream - but not necessarily in that order", he adds with a stupid smirk.

I do admit, the ice cream (and food in general) tastes better than anything in America. The view over the Moscow River as nightfalls is always pleasant, especially in the summer when the sunset seems to last forever, finally setting around 2230 or 2300 hours. Hiking and camping in the most remote places imaginable, big cities, little cities, villages which have no running water or, sometimes, no electricity.

If you want to do it, I am pretty sure we can find somewhere that it can be done.

You and your Pa should be sure to get multi-entry visas. We all meet up in Piter. We could travel north to Murmansk, hook west into Finland, back south, and hook back east into Russia.

It would definitely be a beautiful road trip. A lot better than the Gold Ring trip - which is pretty much worthless in my opinion, although you really do get to see some old stuff.

As much as I hate Moscow, it is probably worth the trip. Damn you Kolya. The eternal flame outisde the Kremlin wall is inspiring.

The military history museum there in Piter had a Kalashnikov display for a while, but it was only temporary. But I am pretty sure your Pa would enjoy the other military history bits, from tsarist times through the Leningrad seige.

A vacation book could give you ideas, too. Be sure and let me know which palaces are the tourist traps..;)

We Petersburgers have to stay together, so I support Sasha. Especially when Kolya stings so!

There is a comfy restaurant which its name translates into "The little tea spoon" - which sells delicious pancakes, although they not as fluffy as pancakes in America. You roll them like an ice cream cone and you drop in anything you want from condensed milk to blueberries to ground beef Oi, so tastey.

I will happily take you to theatre or something so-called 'cultural' like that. Maybe they will be in Italian and we both not understand a thing!

Sasha would probably go but not any of the other guys, I think.

I am going to take a wild guess here, and say that I think Natasha is talking about an Opera instead of a Ballet. As Operas can be in Italian, German, or Russian for that matter. But Ballet is just dance and understood by most, no matter what language you speak.

Thanks Shadowstalker for clearing that up.

Opera, ballet. Tomato, tomahto.

I'm not going to either, willingly.

Coming from you, that scares the shit out of me.

Here at SV, we do not get awards and medals.... neither do we have a dress uniform. Thankfully.

Then I guess it will be a Tux. Get one tailored to hide your gun and Body armor. Don't go for a rental as you may not be able to return it.
