Bloop and Hum

Post by Ron Caliburn »

I listened to the file and didn't hear anythign particularly nerve wracking, but maybe some of you have a better idea of what is behind The Bloop

Then again, there is also The Hum

Dear gods... o_o; Okay, sometimes I spook myself when it's late at night, but this isn't *that* late...

As I was reading the entry on "The Hums", I got a flash of an entity, trying to reach into our world through varying points... I tried to bring this flash of an image into clearer focus, and saw a group of people at one of these "hum" sights, trying to match the pitch they all heard... All of them were humming off-key from one another, and it started reverberating, the way discord does...and apparently, that let the creature start reaching through into our world. And I got the feeling that, of all the creatures that shouldn't be in our world, that one was pretty far up the list.

...

Alright, so I don't normally get creepy psychic flashes that're terribly accurate... I have, in the past, but that's usually the exception, not the rule... I have, on the other hand, been known to let things creep the hell outta me when I'm tired. The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking that's probably what this is.

But, nevertheless, I'll throw it out there and see who bites...

As for The Bloop... I hear a "thump". And that's it. o_O What, exactly, are we supposed to be hearing?

KT . . . any other guidance on the humming party?

The bloop apparently sounds like whales exhaling or farting or whatever. But 100 times louder than any noise a whale could make.

The flash I saw... If it's real, it hasn't happened, yet. And I gave all the specifics I got.

I have heard "the bloop" before, both times were on audio tapes that were the final recordings of reseach submarines (the large, unmanned type) that were on a "research trip" for a crackpot with a grant from the National History Museum, Kyoto. The fool was actually trying to prove or disprove the existance of Mappo No Ryujin. If any of you are familiar, do you think she may be large enough to make such a noise?

Having had listened to "the hum" I am surprised that it puzzles so many. I have two questions to ask before I post my hypothesis.
1. Has it been reported in the Orient? (I mean away from the major cities - places where myth and legend are still remembered)
2. Does anyone know if there is a relationship between where "the hum" is heard and the dragon lines? (always on one, always where they meet, or always away from them?)
Understanding, is not a thing that comes swiftly, but rather in stages, a journey that once begun, must be seen to it's end.

Uh, never heard of the Moppo No Ryuiin - what is it?

The Hum has been located in a number of different places. There is a list in the article of some of those locations.

I hope I can stop envisioning her as Count Dracula now, a pimp in a cape.

No. It is a technique to keep my temper in check. A technique I will be using very soon if you do not explain your “Count Dracula” remark quickly.

We were talking about Sesame Street, right.

Sasha told me about the Count....

Count Dracula

Ah. So the “Sesame Street” vampire is the one you think of as the “pimp,” and not me?

I am not sure why you put pimp in quotes...

Slick hair, a cape. What else could he be?

Just needs a pile of money to count...

Give the muppets a rest, man. Just about any kid who isn't being raised by a brainless dolt to be the same can tell you the difference between the muppet "monsters" and the worse kinds.

It's the monsters that even throw *us* for a loop that I'm far more worried about, and no amount of proper preparation for dealing with those monsters ever seems to make a difference...
