He was a guest in my house. Once I was sure the others would make it to safety I needed to see to his.

You are a stand up guy.

Being a guest does not mean beans to some people.

In any case, your sister needs help. No way I can say 'no' to that even if we dismiss the whole you-saved-Sasha's-life thing.

Hey, Ron... I'm back in the game. This corruption stuff is still messing with my ability to heal myself magically, but my body seems to be telling this stuff, in no uncertain terms, what it can do with itself. I don't know if this is in part to how much magical healing has been attempted or what, but I am recovering fast.

So tell the backup folks thanks for keeping my seat warm and all, but the druid's back in the game.

That is great news!

That redces the danger to all involved considerably.

It means we get to use a little more stealth and a lot less firepower.

Yea, when it comes down to it, I certainly prefer to be the one shooting.

Scariest moments of my career have always involved someone else with a gun.

And I ain't talking about teaching Robin and KT how to shoot.

Yea, facing a giant clawed hand and facing the bore of a shotgun evokes two entirely different sensations.

Ron Caliburn wrote:Tim, this is going to be a lot different than anything else you've dealt with.

You won't be going against monsters with claws that have to run through your flames to get to you. This will be folks with long arms capable of plinking you from hundreds of yards away.

While I know you have some experience with guns now (and a decent teacher) most of that was in close quarters situations.

In truth, taking down a nest of vampires is probaby going to be safer for someone like you than this will be.

On the one hand, I have had a fair deal of experience with normal people... well, normal not counting the slugs that had replaced a good chunk of their frontal lobes...

On the other hand, they were usually trying to make things look accidental by running me over with a truck. :?

Well, folks, the release papers are signed, and Lex and I have a plane to catch. It's been surreal (as always)...

Catch y'all on the Chi side.

Ron, do you think you could give us a lift to the airport? Didn't wanna leave without saying good-bye, and it sounded like they were gonna hold off the release until tomorrow...so it was rather sudden when the papers got signed.

Sun's setting, both in reality and figuratively... Anyone who wants to come down to the airport to say g'bye is more than welcome.

Later, DC!

Well, due to rain and fog, the plane took its sweet time landing. Not that I'm complaining; I'd rather take a while to land and do so safely, coming off the plane in one piece. I guess if it had been windy, too, the pilot wasn't gonna land at all.

It was great seeing y'all one last time... I feel bad not sticking around to make sure this whole Khavik mess is cleaned up, but...yeah, I really do need to start taking care of my own life.

We stopped by Lex's parents' to pick the baby up, and stopped by my parents' to pick the puppy up, and to let everyone know that everyone's okay. We came home, and it was...very refreshing. Like stepping back into an old, comfortable life... And it was definitely more welcome than those painted walls.

By the way, someone's gonna need to give me the non-caffeinated run-down of how the hell that wall ended up with scorch-marks on it.

Yeah; if it weren't for the necessity of a paycheck that I'll be getting for the work I do next week, I'd say it wasn't worth coming home at all... ^^;
