The fight...

Post by Legacy »

I've got some time while I'm on the plane, so I'll type up what happened, for the sake of everyone who's curious as to how KT got in such a bad condition.

Mitch had planned on being the central communications person, but then Holister, who had already been stationed on the neighboring roof, had already taken that position, more or less...and with KT's report that the place was heavily warded, the four of us were holding position in our rental van.

We had yet to actually meet Holister by this point, so when a voice came on our radio, we didn't realize it wasn't him...

"KT found a way in, and I've found another way in. Several others are already inside, but they could use a hand..." We copied, and Lily and myself went where the voice on the radio told us... There was a door on our side of the compound that lacked the wards that the others did.

Lily and I went in, and found it to be pitch-black. Fortunately, we always carry pocket flashlights, which, with all the mirrored surfaces everywhere, proved to be more than enough light.

We weren't inside for very long before something got the jump on us... We were grabbed from behind and dragged through one of the mirrors... Describing where we were at that point is...difficult, to say the least. We were in a place where we could see out through every mirrored surface in the building... We could hear the presence of others with us, haggard and rough voices that pondered what to do with us... Torture and rape were among the highest suggestions. We were bound and gagged, and most of the mirrors showed out into darkness at first...

It was from there that...some creature or other was altering everyone's sense of time, on both sides of the mirrors. We could see some things happening in real-time through some mirrors, while KT was moving painfully slowly in another, and Bert, as he came in through the front door, was moving impossibly quickly... A major blessing, since he almost blinded us with a floodlight.

Fortunately, even with time being altered, with everyone showing up so quickly, the creatures that were holding us had no time for us, and we were left relatively forgotten.

Watching KT was...kind of scary. His reflections all had an extra shadow to them, that should not have been there...and the shadow seemed to move almost independently of him. We think it was that shadow that finally drew him through the mirrors to where we were...but we're not entirely certain how it happened.

When he showed up on our side of things, the creatures suddenly went berserk. Between him and his dragon spirit, he managed to take down...a little over a dozen humanoids. Neither Lily nor I exactly had ringside seats, so it was difficult to see very specific details, but they looked like healthily built humans, except that their heads were shriveled and shrunk, like they were ancient relics of humans, rather than healthy, living human beings. They attacked with whips and swords... He managed to cut them all down, but he took some serious hits in the process. He untied us, and figured out how to get us back through the mirrors...

I guess we must've triggered some kind of silent alarm or something, because we got heavily swarmed when we showed back up in realspace. I'd never seen most of those creatures in person, but I had read about them, and Jake Bloodbane had told me a lot about them... We found ourselves facing a couple dozen Hell Hounds, roughly a dozen ghouls, a--...well, I'm pretty sure it was what they call a Tectonic Entity; it was a humanoid-shaped piecemeal creature made of stones and concrete...and, of course, a Dybbuk. KT said he would be taking care of the ghosts, so I have to assume there were more creatures there than I can account for, and I apologize that I couldn't give a full account of what they were, more exactly.

Most of the fight was spent dodging the Dybbuk and the Tectonic, taking down the lesser threats before they caused more problems than were needed... After a time, the Tectonic vanished, probably to deal with other intruders. We'd all taken some serious hits, but KT seemed to be suffering the worst; he'd been hit by something from one of the ghosts he was fighting, and there was a black ooze seeping into him through his wounds. He was trying to clean it off, stay out of the Dybbuk's range, and shoot it along with us all at once...

The mirrors finally got to us. We lost visual contact with the Dybbuk, and were standing back to back together... KT cast some healing spells, and that's when it got the drop on us. Literally. Crashed through the ceiling from the floor above, and in one motion, grabbed us and threw us hard into the wall.

Its action wasn't without consequence. All three of us opened fire, shooting it at point-blank range as it grabbed and threw us. I managed to hit the wall feet-first, and so recovered first. I re-loaded another clip into my gun as it rushed us, but I wasn't fast enough to shoot it again... Between everything, it was already in bad shape. It hit us, crashing us through the wall, and crashing through the wall itself. KT grabbed Lily and me, as I unloaded that clip into it, and it finally discorporated into the swarm of bugs...

Unfortunately, we were already airborne. KT reinforced his armor spell on the way down, and while that's probably the only reason he's still alive, it obviously didn't cushion the impact terribly well... He did manage to keep both Lily and me cushioned well enough that rather than breaking almost everything in our bodies, we bounced almost harmlessly to the side, sustaining nothing more serious than some sore bruises and a couple of ripped jackets.

I think you know the rest, so I'll leave off here...with our apologies for not verifying the identity of the voice, and for getting in the way...

:D Yes, I am sick. I'm twisted. I'm bent. I'm warped. I claim all these titles.

Wouldn't it be better if you smacked me with a large tuna instead?

Anyway!

It's a problem?! Woah! I always thought the ability to laugh at one's self and keep from getting too serious about life was one of its keys to keeping happy.

That is exactly right, Razor.

Sasha met an American girl in University several years back. They were at the bus stop and across the street under a bush a guy was laying motionless.

"Is that guy dead?" she asked.

"Dead drunk," he replied.

As always, I recalled a Dutch guy I know once asking me, "have you ever been drunk? I mean shit in your pants drunk?"

Listen, when ya get some down time, hop a flight over to Bangor International, come stay for awhile, take ya to The Brick, we'll run the lot and probably get some fishin' in. The trout usually start in about April all the way till October. May even get some salmon, maybe even a lil' huntin' in too.

Bring your team if ya want, I got plenty of room. Hell, we'll make a weekend out of it
and invite some of the guys.
