He's been able to leap out of the physical moments before being destroyed and leap out of dreams moments before being destroyed.
Holding on for him long enough to haul him in might be rather difficult.
Likewise he's a dream native . . . so it's quite possible he can resist your "friends" call in.
And there is the amulet - how might that fall into play. From what Shadow says of it's power Not me and your "friend" might be able to escape together with it.
Finally . . . I want him destroyed, not held. I want to be sure he won't ever be back.

Sheeeiiit.. I hadn't thought of her trying to get out. I doubt she could possibly do so, because of the way that things are set up. She's been trying for decades. However, she can send out her minions. I could see one of them getting to the physical... especially after some of the dreams that have been shared by many people. The last thing we want is for one of her chosen to get loose.
And Ron, I wasn't suggesting we -just- imprison him. I was suggesting we lock him up until we can deal. Personally, I'd like nothing better than to put a shotgun barrel in his mouth and make him eat it until I get tired.

Secrets and secrets, truth and lies, but which is which? Not knowing is the way to die.

Re: My Nightmare
He's still out there . . . I almost wish he'd show up again so I get another crack at finishing him off.
Re: My Nightmare
You know, I thought I could almost detect a change in the forums mood this evening.
So, anything you want to talk about, Mr. Caliburn?

Re: My Nightmare
Having (re)read all that, I remember reading it when I dived into the sites archives over a year ago to see what there was to see.
I assumed you were all nuts. I'm not convinced you aren't.
Because this is some seriously fucked up shit. Ah how I miss those early days when I didn't really know what was possible.
So don't take this personally when I say I am quite glad that none of you know me. Not my name, not my face; not nothing but the lies I carefully place. I thought that certain family instituitions that I have occasionally worked with were good at using loved ones against people. This makes them all look like a bunch of good fellas.
I don't like it the few times things have just been able to talk in my head. This crazy shit would make me lose it. And I don't think anyone wants that.
Time to curl up with a bottle of Jack and watch me some Natalie Portman movies.
And maybe pray a bit like my Da used to get me to do.

Re: My Nightmare
I've never had a problem using my name or people seeing my face.
Of course, I'm not paranoid and I don't live in a fantasy world. No need for either of them.

My dear Sebastion,
Long before I ever heard of the Lazlo Society, I had sufficient reason to be paranoid. I've done lots of bad things and some day it's going to catch up to me.
And every morning I say to myself, "Not today!" And then I usually finally get some sleep.
One doesn't need monsters and things that go bump in the night for there to be evil, insanity and just plain old unpleasantness.
But even if all that were not the case, with all the nutbars on this site, one of them could seriously ruin a persons day. No sane person should give up their real identity in such circumstances.

Don't confuse being careful and intelligent with being paranoid.

Re: My Nightmare
It's not paranoia if someone is really out to get you.
Jack's not being my friend tonight. I think I'm going to try some wine instead.

You said you had reason to be paranoid.
Maybe you're just too drunk to carry on tonight?
Question everything.
Re: My Nightmare
Don't be silly, Sebastion.
I have no compulsion to reveal anything about myself so I'm not nearly so drunk as to be suicidal.
Haven't even messed up my typing yet. That's usually the first thing to go. And when it does, I'm usually still lucid enough to stop talking. Not talking is one of the things I'm good at.
Along with talking and saying nothing.
And of course, good ole fashioned lying.

Re: My Nightmare
Hold up there Ronny Boy, you never killed off that doppleganger thing you gave birth to? Sounds like you're slippin' in your golden years there boy.
"Too serve and protect", somethin' bout that gets a lil' blurred when dealin' with the supernatural.

Re: My Nightmare
You missed it Ben, about a year or more ago it tricked Hannah into releasing it again.
It's laid low since then, no idea where it is or what it's doing.

Re: My Nightmare
If I were it, I would get friends.
That is, if it's capable of learning.
Think about it. Mr. Caliburn was able to defeat it before with his sisters aid. Not to mention all the support he got from this site. And if what was said in the other thread was true, then it's already worked with other things in the past, right?
Goals may be the same but if it's capable of learning, then the old methods will be gone and something new will be tried.
Where was it most successful before? It may start with it's strengths.
I know how I would go about it. I would use contacts and my new allies to isolate Mr. Caliburn. From this site and from his family. Not knowing the extent of Miss Solstice's and Hannah's abilities I think I would probably start by alienating friends. By impersonating Mr. Caliburn and using his gruff exterior while maintaining an 'in character' facade. Ideally this would be during a period of time when Mr. Caliburn and his household were without internet access. Or when Mr. Caliburn was away from home and without internet access. A lot of bridges could be burned in just a week or two.
That's when I would start taking out those closest to Mr. Caliburn. Especially those who might see through my facade such as Miss Solstice or his cat.
There are some flaws with that plan though.
It might be easier to impersonate Miss Solstice while Hannah was away from home for an extended period. Get close to Mr. Caliburn and then start isolating him without him perhaps even realizing it.
A scarier scenerio would be creating an entirely new persona or perhaps working through a new ally to land a 'plant' within Mr. Caliburn's camp. An alleged ally who could gather information while planting dissention.
Who knows, any of these may have already begun.
Or perhaps something even more sinister. I mean, these are just ideas that came to me just off the top of my head. Someone who's been thinking about this for a year or more...

Re: My Nightmare
Well Hannah seems to be the only one who can destroy or trap him - so obviously she's his greatest vulnerability.
At the same time he seems to feed off her somehow - so he seems to want to control her rather than harm her. In fact, his latest escape was related to saving his own skin from something threatening Hannah - so to protect himself he had to protect her.
So far his greatest efforts (and successes) have been in 1) isolating me from support (and eventually sanity) 2) Arranging circumstances in which myself and my allies would be exposed to lethal harm - though rarely directly from him 3) stealing Hannah into the dream world.
Generally he prefers indirect involvement, targeting his victims minds rather than their bodies.
In short the best I can do against him is try to keep my self control when I dream. I have no offensive ability.
What he's done lately doesn't seem to be known - and he's had a lot of time to set things up. He can't strike through Wie now - though without her around I really have no way of being sure that he isn't hanging around anyway.
Oh and the bit about the sister was a cover story for my daughter. I don't actually have any sisters.
