December Sky 2007

One of my responsibilities is tracking celestial events and alignments. I decided to share them here. Sometimes we're too busy and time can get away from us. So here's the rest of December. I'll post some more (about January) later, too.- December 22 - The Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere occurs at 06:08 Universal Time. The Sun is at its lowest point in the sky and it will be the shortest day of the year. This is also the first day of winter.
- December 24 - Mars at opposition. This means Mars, Earth, and Sun are aligned. Mars will be closest to Earth in its orbit and it will be fully illuminated by the Sun. This makes it best time for viewing and photographing the Red Planet. We know it means more than that though.
- December 24 - Full Moon. Aaaaooooo!

Why can't the winter solstice ever occur at 3 PM Eastern Time . . . I'd like to be able to sleep in for once.

But by the time I finish cleaning up the mess, I'll need to be in for work.

Last year was a good New Year. You'd just joined the team. This one's going to be cool, too.

Oh, the Solstice is occurring on the 22nd this year? That means I *won't* be working through it!
I didn't bother checking, myself, 'cuz for one, I've been too exhausted, and for two, I didn't want to find out it'd be on Friday, and I'd have to work through it...
Thanks, Natasha!

Whoop--
I missed seeing that December 24th was a full moon. We had a really cloudy sky that night... I'm not really worried about the lycanthropy thing before, but I've never had any real experience with were's. Will clouds dampen the effect of a full moon on a lycanthrope? Do I really need to lock myself up for the next full moon, just in case, or should I not worry about it, since it still hasn't manifested?

I would think that you are safe for the most part KT, but You may want to have somebody else double check, just to make sure.

Any strange, vivid dreams from that night?

None, really. Had one where I was all pleased with myself for chasing the bitch off, but it wasn't what I'd call "vivid". I think it went from my patting myself on the back into a 50's black-and-white murder mystery...
Dreams are funny like that.

I don't know unless she tells me . . . or decides to post it here.
We're going to have a discussion about what is important information for me to know tonight.

Try to let it happen again then, right?
