Hair Brained Idea

Actually I hope it is not to hair brained.
From the first day I had heard of Celeste I was curious, " A Vampire who wishes to be a Hunter?" I will admit at first I to had my doubts. Then I met her and as time has gone by I have gotten to know more about the person, for she is still a person not a monster, and one I would call a friend.
I care about those I call friend and try to help them. In Celeste's case one of the ways I could help is to find a way for her to feed without guilt of causeing others harm?
So I got some help and the people I asked came up with resonable idea? Thou I should first explain a few things the figured out.
First off is that Vampires feed not only on the blood of their victum but also the life force of them as well. What Prof. Lazlo called P.otential P.sychic E.nergy "P.P.E." to some. this is perhaps why when Celeste was feeding on Rats and the like she didn't seem to get what she needed from them. In simpler terms Small amimals= small life force. it was enough to sustane her but only just.
Now here is where I start to really explain what was thought up. We draw the blood from a larger animal in this case we are using Blood from a Geneticly enginered Pig, if your wondering what makes them so special they were enginered so that their organs could be harvested to use in humans as a stop gap measure for people on a organ donor list who need something done now. This is only the first part of the equation, the second part is a tad more Metaphysical.
The reserchers are using a version of a ritual that allows tham to enrich the blood with P.P.E..This is an idea they barrowed from some of our medically inclined Mages who do this with human Blood and Plasma to help promote healing in patients.
So in finish I may have a means for Celeste to feed without need of harming anyone, I have offered this to her. She however wants to know what everyone else thinks of this idea. So here it is what do you think of the idea?

Maybe you should wait before telling, Ben. I . . . am still thinking the matter through.

Why am I feeling that whatever Ben has in mind is more hair brained than my idea? But I hope I am wrong.

Yeah, I recall our "conversation" quite clearly,
but this is your call not mine Cee.

I stand by you no matter what your choice.

Thanks . . . what do you mean?

Thank you, Ben. Please understand, it’s not that I don’t want to . . . it’s just that I’m not prepared . . . .

“Conversation”? Why the quotes, Ben? I don’t want to misinterpret this . . . what is your tone here?

Ok can we try to get back on topic here? I started this at Celeste's request because she would like to get some opinons on what others think of my Idea here? I have to admit I am a little curious myself? So how about a little feed back here please?

It doesn't sound like a bad idea in theory, but can enough blood be harvested without killing the pigs? If they're used in temporary organ transplants...I doubt Celeste would want that on her conscience. After all, that's potentially not only the pigs she's sacrificing, then, but the people who need those organs.

I can be of assistance there, if Shadow can give me the information on the people who are raiseing these pigs I may be able to get a couple. Then add a mage's clone spell and bam, double the number in a few months. I belive this is a plan to be carried out to see if it will work, and if an emergency comes up we have the organs nearby for use. I think the clones would be around for a decade or so unless the chaos of magic makes them peremant, till old age or disese gets em any way.

Ok I see A few questions I can answer.
First off we are not talking about a few pigs here, but rather a few dozen. All of them are at 150lbs or better. On top of that you can draw blood from them just like you would from a human Donor without ill effect to the animal.
Now I admit if this works we still also have to figure out how much, and how often do we need to supply Celeste, for her function with out problem? So Michael T's Idea may be of major use?
Second A few of these animals are in fact at or over 300lbs and their organs are to large at this point for use as replacement even as a stop gap measure, and they were slated for destruction. If this works instead they are going to lead a pampered life till they die of old age, only getting some blood drawn periodicly. A tad more resonable fate if you ask me?

Hi Everyboody

So if y'all raise a mess of hogs, Celeste can get the blood she needs without havin' ta hurt nobody?

Did y'all forget I am from a farm? I can probably rais hem hogs better than y'all could.

Hannah

PS: I'll tell Pa to make sure our new house has a good hog pen.

Hi Everybody,

I'm sure he would like it. It would be just like when we grew up. We could have some hogs, some chickens, some goats, some bunnies . . . we could breed our bunnies with Bens and see if we get three legged bunnies!

Hannah

PS: Why wouldn't he like it?

Well, I'm guessing that the city you guys will be living in has laws against raising livestock within city limits. Most urban areas do.

Hi Bert,

Now why would they go and pass a silly law like that?

Hannah

PS: Is it realy the law?

Yup, and there are good reasons for it too.

The short answer is: Raising Crops and Livestock takes a lot of space, and in cities, space is at a premium. Agriculture is kept to the Rural areas with lots and lots of space because that is what is required for that kind of work. Urban areas have a lot of "White Collar" jobs like working in big companies as Accountants or Lawyers or Computer Programmers etc. because they don't take up a lot of space but need a lot of people. The Suburban areas and Small Town America tend to fulfill one of two functions: Either its a place for people in the City to live that isn't as cramped as living inside the big city itself or it springs up around one or two things that require a lot of space and people, like a town that grows around a big factory.

There's a crazy kind of order to the lives people live.

Hi Bert,

This is America. Ain't nobody got the right ta tell me and my pa what we do on our property. If the government can do that . . . that's communism!

Hannah

PS: You'ld help us if the governemnt came for the hogs, right Bert?

Alright. Think of everyone you know. I'm guessing that'd come to several hundred people. Let's say you know 500 people (just to make it a nice round number). As of the last Census taken in 2005, Washington D.C. had over 1,000 times more people than that at 582,049 persons. As you can imagine, its hard getting that many people to live together in a small place like a city. Cities seem large, but they aren't really compared to the number of people that live in them. That's why there are laws that infringe on some personal freedoms while you live there. You can't play your music too loud after a certain time at night or before a certain time in the morning as an example. Raising livestock would also disrupt the lives of the people around you, animals are loud, generate a lot of waste, require a lot of space, etc. Nobody involved, animals included, would be happy. Out in the country you have a lot of space and not a lot of people so there's no problem.

Hi Bert,

But I'd bee keepin' 'em on our property where they won't disturb nobody. I don't see why they gots the right to say what I can and can't do with my property.

Hannah.

PS Besides, everybody should have a few critters for food and compny.
