Help needed...

Good evening, everyone. Amy here. Looks like everyone's been hectically busy since I last posted...

Business is sporadic here at the agency, but that's the life of a detective. As it turns out...I think we're going to need a hand with a couple of our latest cases.

The first was a missing persons case, about a month old. Officially, the police are still working on it, though the matter has hit the back burners... Three persons went missing mid-February; one of them was discovered later, shot through the head with a silver bullet while driving on an overpass. His car careened over the edge of the bridge and fell into the forest below...

That man was engaged to the second missing person. The third missing person was her brother.

The parents of the siblings asked us to try and find their children... The police had found little evidence to point them in the right direction, and the parents were convinced that the headshot victim was a werewolf.

After a couple of weeks' digging, I'm convinced they're right. We think we know where both John and Jane Doe are, and we're fairly well convinced they're alive. We suspect this werewolf's "pack" may be involved, and we're not certain of the victims' current state.

We'd like one or two hunters, experienced at fighting lycanthropes, and who have the time to spare, to come help us finish this case.

The second case involves an apartment building, that was converted from a hotel... A number of murders have occurred in the building, with no clear connection between any of them. They have all occurred with no sign of breaking and entering, varying degrees of signs of struggle, different times of the day, and the victims have had no traceable traits in common.

Some of the tenants say the place is cursed or haunted; Shade experienced some rather horrific visions while she was helping us sniff around, so I'm convinced there's something supernatural going on there.

We'd like a couple more psychics or wizards or whatever to help crack this case, and put a stop to the murders.

We're hoping to hear back from you guys soon.

I find it interesting you are calling what happened to the Werewolves murder.

Could just be a hunter cleaning up the area.

What, it couldn't be the Fader there Ron. :)

I don't believe I termed that anything but a "headshot"...but if you want to be technical, shooting someone in the back of the head while driving down an interstate is still murder in my books, as well as reckless endangerment.

But I'm not after his killer.

I'm just after his fiance and her brother.

Actually it's a damned impressive feat of marksmanship. I doubt I could repeat it and I'm sure Ben or Bert would have a pretty hard time of making it.

So I suggest you wear the bullet proof gooodies you got and keep out of sight as best you can.

So the fiance and brother are human?

Marksmanship? According to the autopsy results, the shot was fired from the back seat. In my books, that's either desperation or stupidity...

As for our John and Jane Doe (I hesitate to use their names; I don't want it going too public that we're working on a case that's still being pursued by the police), they're supposedly still human, but in a month, I know we need to be ready for anything.

So can anyone help these folks out anytime soon...?

As much as I would love to tangle with werewolves, I am going to be leaving in the morning on the trail of Fate. I would love to test out a round I designed specifically for were-beasts... A 12 gauge buckshot round, but the buck shot is replaced with smaller lead rounds coated in silver. I also have a few solid silver buckshot rounds.

If trouble doesn't start up between now and tomorrow morning I'll head on over and help out the Legacy.

So somebody thought a car crash wouldn't be much of a problem for them.

As crazy as this may sound, it may be a pack power play for domination. Take out the alpha
and replace him. Can't do it in a "traditional" way, you pop a cap in the back of his head while driving.

Two things lead me to believe this might be the case:

1) Access to the car and knowledge of the driver and his "weakness".

2) A werewolf has very keen senses, they would have known of, if not seen the shooter in the back seat, meaning if the were driving the car knowing a passenger was in the back seat, there is a good chance the driver knew them personally.

Personally, I'd set up a .22 to a remote detonater and rig it up behind the driver so I wouldn't have to be in the car. But, I agree with Ben's analysis in this case.

That is a possibility we haven't ruled out, but as I've said before, we're not terribly interested in who his killer is, unless it was our Jane and John Doe. That's who we're after. The only interest the killer has to us is to try to avoid being killed by them, ourselves.

Thanks, Bert. Did you need someone to pick you up from one of the local airports, or will you be driving up?

Well, at this point I'm a several hours outside of D.C. :(

For a talking magical squirrel that can fly and teleport Bert, I don't think that would be a problem for your new girlfriend.

Amy here... The first job was taken care of last night. Bert can tell you, it wasn't what we'd hoped to find... We lost both the Does, last night.

The official story is that there were no werewolves after all; there was a shack in the woods where they were both being kept. Headshot victim had been a member of a terrorist group, and was double-crossed while trying to get his fiance and his future brother-in-law out of harm's way. He was shot in the back of the head, and our Does were taken. The shack they were taken to was controlled by the terrorist group, who, when we got too close for comfort, decided to blow it, themselves, and their hostages up rather than let us ruin things for them.

Since the parents who hired us paid us from money they collected from their church community, I'll be paying them back. Bert said it was all rotten luck, and offered us a rather generous sum for the hazards we faced. If we didn't need the money, I'd turn him down, especially considering the new equipment he brought us already.

Mr. Turtle, thank you again for your help.

...

So that wraps up one job... We need to get some rest today, but I'm asking again for any psychics to help with the second job, the hotel/apartment building murders. If we don't get some help with that fairly soon, we'll try winging it alone. The only other alternative is paying our client back without trying...

You've given us the official story, what was the real story?

Real Story

Bert = Explosion

Nuff Said :D

Bert has requested that the real story be kept down... It was...to put it mildly...unpleasant.

(Shade)

In the same way that the sun is mildly warm.

Bert was pretty awesome, though...

Several pounds of plastic explosives: a couple hundred bucks on the black market.

Detonators: $25 apiece.

Bowie knife: $15 at Wal-Mart.

Butane torch: $45 for a good one.

Getting an asshole to scream like a banshee: Priceless.

Some things credit cards can't buy. For those things, you need a Turtle.

Told ya'll

Bert = Explosion

Its just a known fact of science people. :D

Alright, our deadline is Tuesday... If we don't have another psychic by Monday, we'll probably be out of reach until this job gets sorted out.

Presently I find myself with a need to get out of town for a day or two, if I get the chance to remove a possible threat all the better.
I have some anger to get out, and I would rather do something useful with it.
Tell me where and when to meet you and I will be there.

Alright, we have until this weekend to get this job done... I'm sending you a PM with our address in it. Come by when you can... We'll treat you to dinner, so you can help calm down... We'll brief you tomorrow evening, and we can get started right away, or you can take your time.

One thing I learned from my father: Never do detective work when you're overly upset, and it looks like you have plenty to be upset about... If you decide you can't do this right now, we'll understand.
