I need help to break this code. If you good with the cryptography, contact me, please.

Code: Select all

KT, go find your happy place. Please God go find your happy place. Go meditate. Go hug your child. Tell us where you are.

Where I am...? I'm at home... Gabriel's been...working with Death...if that's how you wanna put it... Nothing I can do...about it...so long as Death's in there fighting...

But that's...another thread...

KT, if you check with your wife I left a bag there. There are some syringes with sedative in there, in case Death came back. 1/5th should knock you out.

Alright! Back to business. Since I'm back to being me, again, through and through, what's this for, again, Natasha?

It was in the witch's computer, simple text file. "Alibek" not knows what is it.

During the night I think I make some progress on it. The code not scrambled letters, but the key to the code. I think also many letters and numbers, which have no meaning, are randomly written. I think something like this (it is difficult because results could be yet another code):

Code: Select all

4---u--v--w--x--y
|   |  |  |  |  |
3---p--q--r--s--t          0A = A0 = a
|   |  |  |  |  |          0E = E0 = e
2---k--l--m--n--o          1D = D1 = i
|   |  |  |  |  |          2E = E2 = o
1---f--g--h--i--j          4A = A4 = u
|   |  |  |  |  |
0---a--b--c--d--e
    |  |  |  |  |
    A  B  C  D  E

Also in this scheme... no 'Z'.

I not think it matters that one letter missing.. can be 'Q' or other rare letter.

*sigh*

More progress, I hope, despite everything.

I think it is correct to follow the 5x5 grid path. That covers 25 of all 26 letters of English alphabet. It also means that only 0-4 and A-E are important in the code. Everything else, either equates to 0-4/A-E or has no meaning at all.

If we remove the junk, we have:

A2 B2 A1 C1 D3 A4 C3 A2 C1 A2 C1 B4 C1 B3

D1 C3 B3 B2 B1 C1 E3 D1 C4 D4 A2 C1

Frequency analysis:
Cypher Text --> Frequency --> Likely Plain Text

C1 --> 6 --> E
A2 --> 4 --> S

No other code has frequency > 2.

So, If I am right, our grid (I switch X and Y but rotate original square 90 degrees counterclockwise, same thing):

Code: Select all

E---*--*--*--*--*
    |  |  |  |  |
D---*--*--*--*--*   A2 = s
    |  |  |  |  |   C1 = e
C---*--e--*--*--*
    |  |  |  |  |
B---*--*--*--*--*
    |  |  |  |  |
A---*--*--s--*--*
    |  |  |  |  |
    0  1  2  3  4

Shadowstalker will read the thumb drive on which I found the code... he or I will share results - if they wiill be helpful, of course.

Good. Take a break. How many straight hours have you been at this code?

I have no clue man, but just looking at it makes my head hurt. The Cryptoquip in the daily paper gives my code-breaking skills a workout.

Sorry. I wanted to work on this. Other shit has come up.

They say no rest comes for the wicked.

I plan on seeing otherwise.

Mya, all I see -- A's, B's, 1's, and 2's...

Ok I was able to take time and try and get a read off the Thumb Drive Natasha wanted me to check. Well first the obvious former owner is in fact dead I was able to talk to both Natasha and Kolya and confirm we were talking about the right guy. I also got an image of a computer screen with a intant message window or email maybe I'm not to sure but it had a line of text that read"NICK WFSBO EVENT" it came into a very sharp focus so it is of some importance I think.

The American version my name is Nicolas, or Nick. Hmm...

Oh thank you so much Shadow!

I will think now...

We know that they knew who you were... ok, I close the damn computer so I will work now.

Some of the letters from Shadowstalker's read fit into the puzzle, and I think they part of the puzzle.

I write WFSBO into the puzzle and now I see some relationship between 'E' and 'F'. I think it the mathematical relationship.

Maybe Ron's friend will see something I not see - I stare for too long already.

Code: Select all

E---*--*--*--*--*     A0 = w
    |  |  |  |  |     A1 = f
D---*--*--*--*--*     A2 = s
    |  |  |  |  |     A3 = b
C---*--e--*--*--*     A4 = o
    |  |  |  |  |
B---*--*--*--*--*     C2 = e
    |  |  |  |  |
A---w--f--s--b--o
    |  |  |  |  |
    0  1  2  3  4

Solved!

Well, we broke the code. Thanks everyone who helped.

It the 5x5 magic square, with letters instead of numbers.

The plain text from the cypher text I posted:

SAFEHOUSESEVEN
LUNARECLIPSE

There is one more thing: Shadowstalker saw "NICK" on the computer screen. I think SAFEHOUSESEVEN is some computer "nick", or handle or nickname. We have the computer, so I will know if they found anything like this.

By the way, 2 lunar eclipses in 2007 - next one on 3 March; another one in August. The one on 3 March, best viewed from Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia.... including Kabardino-Balkaria. Our North American friends will see some of the eclipse though.

It is a bit scarey what this can be...

I do not want to go back there.

Well, be ready too, or make sure your Government is sending in a team there, because you don't have much time to sort this all out.

yea... this changes everything, I'm afraid.

Let's wrap up the Sowki and I'll go with you Kolya. Least I can do with the help you and your team are giving me. And you may get to see more magic in action as well.

I will see what I can do. My opinion actually matters when it comes to operational planning. :)

safe_house_7 is an IM handle that the witch contacted... in Nalchik.

Alibek realises now his friends not come for him. He cooperates more.

safe_house_7 is very bad news. Alibek says me things, my god....
