New Lead

I think I just found my first lead in the Cult that has taken the tome. Some of their agents are after a young lady down here in the Ohio River Valley area of Ohio.

I have decided it is better to take the risk of acting upon my visions and possibly helping people, than to ignore them and risk letting others get hurt. As such I left West Virginia once I realized that I was unequipped to properly handle the situation there, but managed to hopefully retrap the monster again.

I have proceeded to Ohio and found that the cultists are chasing a young woman there. I am investigating and hope to figure out more and hopefully keep her from harm.

Damn, be careful. Be careful of trusting the authorities, the cult may have spread its influence over them. (Not necessarily all of them but it only takes a few people to really screw things up.)

Yes, be careful.

Yea, if they know you are on their tail, they might be setting you up for an ambush. Take care.

Act with caution. There has been too much death already. (and more to come I fear)

I really hate cults.

I think the admonition of an ambush in your future should be taken to heart.

You might also want to prepare for hostage situations and rescue missions.

Ron, you must have the ability to see the future. I was able to finally convince the young woman, who's name is Tessa, that I am not with those after her. Once that was established (and it took some time) she shared her story and explained that the only reason she is still in the area is that the cultists have taken her son.

They apparently have taken him to an old ghost town in the area called Moonville. The place was a mining town that was abandoned over 100 years ago and from what I learned from carefully questioning the locals the only easy way in is through the old train tunnel that ran to the town. Inside there is still an abandoned cemetery and a few foundations from the town. Unfortunately the authorities quickly grew interested in the guy asking about Moonville. The not so politely told me to go exploring elsewhere.

When I questioned why they would be after her, she showed me her talents. She has the ability to make amazing devices that seem to work without any true logic, just by her willpower. I am guessing that the cultists are needing her to create something for their ritual? I am not sure why else they would be after her specifically.

Anyways, we are trying to dig up as much information regarding the area of Moonville and hoping that there might be another way in. I had to lock down and leave my van back in town and hopefully it will be unharmed when I get back to it.

I will try to post more as I find out more. Need to conserve battery power as much as possible right now.

Well, I strongly recommend NOT goign in by the easy path. Especially since you can be attacked from both ends of the tunnel without and recourse.

It seems, to arrive to Moonville from Cincinnati will avoid the tunnel.

Bert definitely correct, must not take the easy route.

I just know cults up close and personal.

I think you should take a page from Liddel Hart and take the longer, harder, but undefended route.

Sorry for not posting sooner, but it has been a rough weekend for me.

Shortly after posting my last message, we started doing research into ways to get into and out of the area without notice. Tessa claimed to have something that could help at least her see in the dark, along with a few other gadgets that able to do things. To me they looked like toys more than equipment, but she seemed sure of this.

Anyways as we were making our plans, we heard this voice call out to us from the darkness. "Don't make any sudden moves, we have you surrounded and will shoot you if necessary."

Soon afterwards three men in a hooded robes stepped forward. Two had rifles trained on us and the third hastily got us up, searched us for weapons, and then tied our arms up. Before we knew it we were being marched the rest of the way to Moonville.

As we walked the men quietly discussed the fact that I was not part of the original plan and tried to figure out what they were going to do with me. Fortunately, they seemed to be unwilling to just shoot me. I guess they didn't have as good of a hold on the local authorities as I thought. Once, we got through the tunnel, they took both of us a spot just little away from their campsite and secured us with more ropes to a tree. Two of the men went back towards their main camp and the third remained to stand guard.

After a few minutes, another robed figure approached. He had a very scarred face, as if he had once been a burn victim. He seemed to be their leader and proceeded to laugh at us for being fools. After the normal gloating, he let slip that Terra was needed because in order to bring their Master Hela back to this world they need people of great potential like her. He also mused that I helped him by volunteering my own energy towards this goal. He left his final insult, that the boy had already been taken back to their head temple be the final thing we would hear for the night.

There we sat for a next few hours, in the cold barely feeling the warmth of the fire the guard was at. I whispered with Terra, trying to make a plan. I knew I still had my credit card knife hidden in my wallet. It was something I got on a whim just for the novelty of the thing, I never thought I would be using the stupid thing for something useful. About 3 in the morning we made our run for it.

I slowly worked my way to my wallet and worked it out of my pocket. It took what seemed like 30 minutes just to get to the knife, but I managed to get it and start sawing at the ropes. When the ropes gave I slowly handed the card to Terra and started to prepare. On her signal to me, I struck. I dove at the half dozing guard and hit him with all that I could manage. Poor bastard never saw it coming until it was too late. By then we were on the run

As we ran Terra suddenly stop and turned, telling me not to look in her direction. I saw her pull out a lighter and raise it over her head. I shouted to come on, turned to go and then saw the brightest flash of light I have ever seen. before I knew it we were on the run again. As we approached the creek, to follow it downstream we ran across one of the guards.

He yelled at us to stop and as he started to raise his gun, gift kicked in. The next thing any of us knew he was on his back dazed as an unseen force blindsided him. We were off again. We managed to dodge and hide from the cultists throughout the rest of the night and part of the morning. Slowly making our way back towards town. I hated to leave the equipment for lost, but I am sure we would not have gotten to it safely.

Eventually we got back to town and the van was still there in one piece. We didn't wait, but got in and bolted. I picked up another laptop here in Pittsburgh. She is going to tag along with me over the next few days as we try to pick up a lead on where they have taken her son.

At least I know now what they are currently looking for. Now I just need a way to locate potential victims and try to get to them first.

I would say its a good example of one of the rules I always fallow, and that is of course is always keep at least one knife hidden on your peson at all times. You never know when it will save your life.

What is the name of this cult?
Please tell me it is the Cult of Night, Cult of The Dark or even better, the Cult of Ba'al! I will so gladly bring EVERY weapon I have, share with those who can use them, and then kill every son of a bitch involved in this cult.

Easy, there, Pendragon. I don't think it is, because they mentioned Hela... That's not a name I've heard associated with Ba'al, before.

Besides, there're about six dozen or so "Cults of Night" at any one given time, and none of them are ever dedicated to the true beauty of the night... It's disappointing, really. Downright insulting, if you ask me.

But at any rate... We really have seen far too much bloodshed, lately...and I think I can misquote Ron as saying that most cultists are decent people, brainwashed into doing what the cult leaders want; they're innocents, no matter how monstrous they act.

Which is not to say that one should hold back when dealing with them, and when they're trying to kill you... Rather, just try to avoid dealing with most cultists altogether.

O'course, Pendragon does have a point... When it comes to Ba'al, nothin' says lovin' like death from above.

Like KT said, I don't think this is the cult of night. I think this is a cult brought over to the States by immigrants from the North Germanic area. Unfortunately, it seems that have managed to create a large following in the years since arriving.

Personally, I hate dealing with cultists. Most of what we deal with we can destroy or send them back to wherever they are from. With cultists, it gets more complicated because at the end of the day they are not some demon or entity, but an idiot that is playing with the equivalent of mystical nuclear weapons.
