"the Wolf"

The lead on a very bad mage originated with a phone call from a frantic parent to the local cops. She had stumbled on some graphic videos and photographs of a man in a black hood being beheaded and further mutilated on the family's computer.
After it got to our group another team was handling the investigation. They code-named him "The Wolf" (волк, "volk" because of his affinity for the animals). They gathered a good amount of information from the concerned parent's teenage son. The Wolf had started small with sacrificing stray dogs and cats, which are quite abundant here. Somehow he managed to build a small but affluent following. Being a rich man himself, he amassed quite a lot of assests over a short period of time. He also graduated to human sacrifice. He is known to have killed two prostitutes and four homeless just from information gathered from the teenager and those he ratted on.
The Wolf owned a house south of St. Petersburg. When we had information that he and his two right hand men were there, we decided to move against them. They were in the kitchen and drinking tea or coffee. Some sheets of paper were scattered on the table. We formulated our plan.
A small amount of explosives effectively breached the door. Lyosha was first, then me, then Sasha, and Roma was last in line. Lyosha and I tossed in flashbangs. Lyosha was on the move immediately after detonation and I was right behind him with my hand on his back. I felt him peel away and heard the silent clack of his gun going to work on his target. I felt Sasha's hand come off my back as he engaged his target. As the Wolf tried to jump from his seat I kicked the table and it skidded across the floor knocking him into the fridge. At that point I felt a bullet hit me in my arm; it hit in a way that somehow made me drop my gun. I stumbled and dropped to a knee. I went for my side arm but Roma's shotgun blast took the bad guy down. As I regained my feet and went for the Wolf; he was trying to cast a spell but nothing happened--sometimes spells fail, although I think the flashbang spoiled his ability to weave a spell. But I do not take chances; I took aim and managed to actually hit him where I was aiming: his shoulder. He was subdued and the house was cleared.
A guy like this does not make the kind of money he made by being stupid, but it never fails to amaze the things people keep on their computers and text messages on mobile phones. We gained a wealth of intelligence about this guy's operation. We were surprised to learn that it is far bigger than anything any of us imagined. There are citizens from at least four other countries involved in this ring.
Either road, we found some of this guy's stash in an abandoned fortress. This fortress is from the 13th century or something, been rebuilt several times, and used to be a tourist attraction until it turned into a bit of a death trap. Over last or a couple summers ago something like 12 people died within 2 weeks. One couple fell in a pit, some kids were crushed when a wall in a turret failed, and some tripping teens tried to fly off one of its crumbling walls. It was shut down and left to rot. No one noticed (or cared) about the things the Wolf was doing there. After getting bandaged up we decended upon it. We found some wolves - although that is wrong to call them that - in a kennel and they were not of this world. They left no corpse.
Much more disturbing, we found some teens living in one of the crevices of the old fortress. They had a tent, sleeping bags, and a handful of vegetables. They were living like dogs and were not afraid of us, but they fought back when we tried to take them.
Poor kids. Social services are noticably lacking here, but there are a few angels out there.
So I am recovered from the wound and we are working on coordinating a multinational effort to find anyone connected to this network of "people".
