Mothman Experience

Sorry I have been out of touch the past few days. My injuries were a little more than I thought they were so I have had to use some strong medicine for the pain. As promised, here is what happened last Thursday.

As I posted before, I talked two of my three friends from back home to go out with me. At first I told them I wanted to go hunting, which I knew would motivate them to go. We left around 11 that morning and spent about an hour just wandering the woods (we don't believe in tree stands). During that time we joked and caught up on the past year. Slowly I brought up the subject of the old house in the woods, and after a little convincing got them to agree to go see if it still was standing.

When we started to approach the house, Chris started getting a bad feeling about the place. Shortly after I could also sense something was not quite right, but of us wanted to see the place closer. At that point Tim started to getting spooked and didn't want to continue, so we asked to keep an eye on things outside while we took a look. We made it up to the steps and we both thought we hear someone calling out for help. Neither of us wanted to abandon someone, so we called out and started to go inside. That was when everything went wrong.

As soon as we got about two feet into the house, everything went dark. It was as if someone blindfolded us. I suddenly felt a presence behind us, shouted a warning, and then dove forward. Unfortunately, Chris must have not reacted quick enough because I heard a thud followed by crashing boards to my right. I knew I had to get back out of the house and needed to somehow get around the being behind me. Fortunately, I could sense the general area it was in. As I moved I could hear Tim yelling for me and I could sense the creature behind me.

As I sensed it approaching, I dove to one side. A breeze told me how close I came to being knocked flying. Again when it happened I tried to dive the same way. Now we switched places, and I started to work my way back towards what I thought was the doorway. It attacked again, and this time it got me, kicking me backwards and knocking my rifle from my hands. I braced as best I could, felt the crash and rolled with it. It also appeared the darkness stopped a few feet from the porch. Quickly trying to regain my senses, I started crawling away from the house.

I will post most later, as my medicine is starting to kick in agian.

To continue, as I was crawling away from the thing I started hearing gunfire. Tim had started shooting as soon as he got a sight on the thing. I also got my first good look at it. It stood about 10 feet tall, had bat-like wings, and appeared to be from some sort of hell dimension. It seemed that about half of the shots were not even fazing it, but it was getting mad that we were outside and it had to come after us.

I started to gain my feet again. It was started to go after Tim so I pulled the handgun that somehow I still had and started firing. We both ran out of ammo, and had to play cat-and-mouse with it will trying to reload and shoot. To make matters worse, as much as we were wounding it, it was healing as we were fighting. As both of us started to run low on ammo, I started to wish that I had brought more than a knife with me.

It turned into a odd dance then, it would attack one of us and the other would go in for a quick strike. We started to take cuts as near misses got closer and closer. Then Tim tripped and the monster lunged. He would have been a goner had Chris not managed to drag himself back over. He had recovered his rifle and Tim falling gave him a clear shot. He started firing and didn't stop until the thing stopped moving.

As always it was if the creature was never there. And almost just as suddently the feeling of wrongness went away too. Tired, we all just kind of sat there for a while trying to catch our breath. Eventually, I drug myself back into the house to check for evidence of the book, and found it missing. Chris tried to sense where it went but couldn't.

It has taken almost a week for my most serve bruises and cuts to go down, that is part of the reason for the delay. Now I am glad I did not use all the pain medicine and muscle relaxers from my work injury, they both have come in handy lately.

The scars me and my friends have now still gives me chills when I think about them. I just thank God that we didn't wait until later in the day, I would have hated to face that thing at full strength.

Did some good though, but it is too bad it got away. Would have been a nice cap on the weekend.
