Police are hunting a masked ‘werewolf’ man after a horrifying attack on a woman walking through a lonely country park.
The woman, in her forties, was in the heavily-wooded, 400-acre Horton Country Park in Epsom, Surrey, when the man wearing a terrifying wolf’s face struck.
His features hidden behind the snarling mask, he rode up on a bicycle and as she froze in horror he hit her on the head.
She screamed and luckily she was heard by other people in the park who ran to her aid.
Detectives say if they had not been nearby the ‘assault could have been a lot more serious’.
They are building up a picture of the beast who pedalled away furiously on his bike.
In the terrifying broad daylight attack , the woman was walking through the beauty spot towards Parkview Way.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Det Cons Jill Pugh from the East Surrey Criminal Investigation Department said “This was a seemingly unprovoked attack which left a woman panicked and dazed.
“I would like to hear from the members of the public who came to the woman’s assistance and anybody else who may have seen the incident or has any information.”
