You get the chainsaw . . .

Post by Ron Caliburn »

I'll bring the matches.

Chief of Gogo in Bawku keeps vigil over strange tree wrote:The Chief of Gogo in the Bawku West District says he is keeping watch over a tree said to be the cause of weird happenings in the area.

The tree, which witnesses say transforms into a human being at night, is said to be terrorizing the inhabitants.

The deaths of two people in the area have been linked to an encounter they had with the strange tree on separate occasions.

Several others are said to be suffering from strange ailments after coming into contact with it.

The Chief of the area, Naba Akpaam Abugri who blames the development on the immoral lifestyle of the youth, told Joy News residents are now intent on felling the tree.

He said the elders of the community have narrated incidences of trees in the past that terrorized residents.

Naaba Abugri insisted the beliefs of the people cannot be condemned outright.

Interesting story, its possible that this could be the case. Of course it sounds silly to most in the west especially with the intellectual and scientific elite doing all they can to destroy spirituality or anything more that random chemical reactions at the origin of life. Its very simple for humans to not see or hear something simply because they desire to ignore it.

I'm not sayin' I've been everywhere and I know everything, but I ain't never heard of a tree turning into a person, or vice-versa. It is a pretty amazing little planet we live on, so anything's possible, I guess, but I'm gonna say the area's cursed before I say a tree is going around murdering people. May just be that tree's smack-dab in the middle of an area someone's cursed.

Hang on, second idea coming to me... What if someone died there, and their ghost is hangin' out inside the tree? If some folks know it's bad news and saw a spirit walkin' out of it, they might describe it somethin' like, "Hey, that tree turned into a person!" Or somethin'. I'm just guessin', and tryin' to figure it out.

Either way, I don't think cuttin' it down is gonna do much good. Might make things worse, in the second case. Unless the spirit's pissed off 'cuz its body is buried under the tree, and its roots disturbed or destroyed the body...which might explain why it's lashin' out at people who visit the tree...

I dunno. Those're just my ideas, and I dunno where Gogo or Bawku are, but I doubt I could drive a truck out there.
