Our Lady of the Underpass

A local friend of mine is going to go take a look at this. I suspect it's little more than a grease stain on concrete.

It helps to have friends who live a few miles from the "event". It's too bad I couldn't give you the link from the Chicago Tribune. You have to be a member of the website to access it there.

Funny you should mention that. Check this out!

Another Chicago-related link, no less. Dunno about the rest of you, but I'm having a good laugh.

Personally, I think it looks more like Ian McDiarmid as the Emperor in the Star Wars movies.

In other news, some guy in Manitoba apaprently got video footage of bigfoot. So far it hasn't been broadcast though.

My friend in Chicago just got off the phone with me. He went to check it out around 5 p.m. CST today. There were about 100 or so people congregating around the supposed image. He did a visual inspection of it and pretty much confirmed that it was nothing more than a stain caused by road salt and water leaking down from the Kennedy Expressway above it. He could see where folks might think it looked like something. What we have here is a case of a simuacra, where random patterns caused by a natural event are perceived by the human brain to be something that it recognizes, such as a face.

The overall pattern of the stain is roughly the shape of a small stained glass window or a Greek Orthodox icon. It is rounded at the top and elongated vertically. About midway down the stain, there is a point, like the top of a triangle, where it becomes darker and spreads out to the base. This could easily be perceived as the folded hands of the Blessed Virgin while the lighter part at the top could be perceived as her head looking down in prayer. It only takes a little bit of imagination to fill in the rest of the details.

No, that's a cover story, not an explanation.

Ron, you know I got the utmost of respect for you, but I cant help but think that your looking for something that isn't really there on this one.

Actually, I believe Ron's onto something here guys.

They claimed he died not by the fire, but by heart failure right? Well, possible heart surgery issues aside, if this fire was no big deal to the patients health, why did someone take the time for an annonymous tip to the authorities to get their attention? I smell investigation on this one, especially since there have been "Other incidents" like this according to the writer (perhaps even at the same hospital?.) I suspect ritual sacrifices hidden under a blanket of "accidents". This incident went two years before anyone told about it, who knows what else has been kept hidden there.

Good eyes Mr. Caliburn, I hope they get to gaze into mine one day.
