How Prepared Are We - Shapeless Things

Most of us are very familar with vampires, demons, and werewolves. How experienced are we with other creatures such as the malignous, narcarant, or boschala?Over my years here maybe once or twice have such creatures have even been mentioned. Thankfully I would like to believe this makes them very rare occurances, but what do we do when they appear?

We should be prepared to investigate, confront, and exterminate all types of supernatural threats, not such the common fare. I am looking for past experience with these rare creatures; their habits, physiology, methods of recognizing their presence, strategy for battling them, strengths, and weaknesses.

How do you know they are rare occurences if most people can't sense them?

The odds of someone who can being in the same place as one of them, and actualy looking for one at that particular time are kinda astronomical. All any of these things need to do is lay low a little bit and nobody can realy do a census on them.

I mean come on... did you see the little box on your tax return that asks "are you are currently, or have you been in this year possessed by an entity of unknown origin? ( ) yes ( ) no"

Malignous are probably the easiest of those listed to detect, as all you really need to do are to listen for reports of giant bugs (always with the bugs for some reason).

Yes, and he checked yes on it.

Time to take this topic seriously people. With all the different types of SupNat baddies and critters out there, it is apparent that vampires, Dybbuk, and werewolves are the only thing encounter?

No one has ever encountered a Sowki, or a Goqua. How about a Narcarant (AKA The Scarlet Hunter).

I hear talk about Malignous, but what about Boschala. Someone has had to encountered one of those by now?

Actually I have participated in the destruction of a sowki and a gogua in the last several years. I remember I was with Michael T when we took down the sowki. The gogua - named dym - was destroyed but we never posted up the battle (we still might, who knows).

Katja probably encountered a nacarant in goo form in a crypt.

Frank Brimstone seems to have encountered and destroyed a Boschala.

So how did these encounteres go? How did you locate and defeat these beings?

The sowki was years ago.

dym just couldn't leave well enough alone and we found him, cornered him, and hammered him.

Katja's encounter was completely by chance; the monster was laying in wait for grave robbers, I suppose.

Frank didn't say how he tracked the monster down. Perhaps he'll see this and let us know.

That bad guy Dym was a Goqua? I never knew that. You guys are good then. Was it a hard fight? Did you have to use anything special like magic to fight it, or just conventional firepower?

Large calibers and copious amounts of magic went into the destruction of dym, yes.

It was the toughest fight of my life, I'd say.

You know where to find me, if you think I can help you out.

It's not always easy to arrange although I have plenty of latitude, I'm not entirely my own boss.

All I have are written reports on such matters. But it would seem to me that, if these creatures possess the same individuality as many of you propose in other threads, such preparations for "habits" would be useless anyway, as it wouldn't be guaranteed that each creature of the race would follow them.

Those creatures with more of a predatory mind follow instinct like any animal does. The smarter ones are more like serial killers, and so a victimology and unsub profile would be useful along those lines.

Except to date there's nothing that suggests I'd be good at it.

Yes. But there's a difference.

You are like a legend and your team kicks major SupNat ass with you at the wheel. That means alot about your character Kolya. Don't sell yourself short.

Sides, I normally don't like Russkies, but I like you guys.

I'm a tactical leader and not without strategic experience and qualifications. It's all the other stuff.

And, thanks.

Next time I need to lead a raid, I will contact you for tactical advice then. My SWAT training only goes so far.

Fire works well on things that don't have a set shape.

Pure light as well, depending on why the creature in question is shapeless...but yes, in general, the best bet is, indeed, fire.

As a side-note, I am shapeless no more, in this place...
