Ok guys, this is a favorite topic of conversation for many of us. Many times have we discussed various weapons, ammo, and gadgets that we use.

This thread is meant to cover it all from bullets to the latest in technology. I am looking for the best of best right here. We need to know practices, methods, mechanics, trouble shooting, and tech talk. What was the best and has heled you out the most in your personal experiences and why. As well as what should be in your investigating/hunting tool box.

The little scanner seems to work ok, except for the range issue - only a few feet unless its a really big baddie.

I guess you could get a string of them and place them around a perimeter if you wanted an early warning system. You can set them to text you if they detect anything. The app is free and anyone can use it.

It has a few dozen "confirmed" profiles of beasties in it - one that have been scanned. You just have to put in the information in the blank profile when it finds something new and it will ID it.

I have a tachi, a katana, a yari, and a daikyu. Along with my training, and the freedom from fear that comes from doing somethign greater than one man's life has always been all that I require.

I still remeber that flachette gun I saw used by The Horsmen on Orion 12. That was an impressive piece of firepower. I've never been able to acquire one though. Out of my price range.

Well the average member should be about as prepared as an average person. Most of them aren't running around looking for werewolves.

Those of us taking more active measures should assess the threat and the availability of countermeasures to that threat and equip accordingly.

I don't think its possible to have too many toys. However, you should only carry as many as you can confortably use and keep on your person.

I think the hardest part is to find someone who is knowledgable and honest who can help you choose the right things.

I've been making do for some time now with automatic pistols, generally a 9mm. No special mods or ammo, just average over the counter hardware basically. I barely have call to use the thing, but still, any suggestions on an upgrade? I figure you're the folks to ask.

Boggs, find a gun that is comfortable to carry, hold and shoot - then worry about the nitty-gritties.

No worries there Mr Caliburn, I have a Browning I've been carrying for a while now. All this talk of weaponry though has gotten me curious about ammunition or other special features I might want to look into. Not that simple and reliable hasn't worked very well for me so far :wink:

Brownings are good pistols, no ifs on that. Kinda hard to mount accessories on them unless it's a newer model though.

Ammunition, I favour an exposed silver core round in my weapons as it mixes the best qualities of lead and silver bullets - but it is expensive and time consuming to make, so I'm not sure this may be the best choice for you.

You'd be right on that, I'd have to buy them I suppose. Pocketbooks already taken some hits lately, but maybe something to think about later. Thanks for the tip though.

The earlier browings are easily adapted to modern rigging. They are not any better or worse made than the new one however. Very nice guns all the way around.

Ronbo is much more experienced in fighting supernatural baddies than I am. I just make the stuff.

As of late I have contacted several old acquaitances of mine from back in the day who were able to set me up with some decent contacts is the legitimate arms trade.
This has opened up a nice door for my personal acquisition of some new hardware including arms, ammo, and armor.

Amonsgt which I have recently purchase some new rounds for my 12 gaugein the form " dragon rounds ". They burn at 1,000 degree and can melt the tires of an oncoming vehicle or ignite a can of gas at a nice safe distance.

I have also made the purchase of some HP " penetrator " rounds for my .50 rifle. These babies can make swiss cheese out of any body armor and can tear through an engine block like a hot knife through butter.

Of course these purchases have set me back some, but in the end I believe it may be worth it. It helps having friends in the arms trade.

That brings to mind something. A few years back I had this terrific M1 carbine, it got wrecked and I had no clue how to replace it. Think you could help me out with something like that?

Heck, I have two in down in my gun cabinet. They need new firing pins and a little work, but I can fix one up for you if you'ld like there Doc. Maybe I'll even throw in some
" special " ammo if you need it.

Well, I'm just about finished up with NY job, I could swing by in a few days. You'd have to explain this special ammo business, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt any to 'get with the times'. And possibly stop by this pub you mentioned your wife owning? You know, strictly as a matter of professional courtesy! :lol:

Oh, I just saw these rounds on a website call "Incapacitator Rounds". They are 12 gauge shotgun rounds that have a durable outter plastic shell and water on the inside.

They are used to take out explosive devices without setting them off, as well a good round to take down perps without doing serious harm. It may not cause a serious wound, but they hurt like hell.

I'm not so much casting anything aside as keeping my options open. Much as I'd prefer to use a few subtle incantations to avoid a fight, some people stubbornly refuse to fall for that sorta thing. Hand to hand combat certainly won't be my fallback in my physical condition, so a nice loud gun does the job. That and my walking stick, it makes a passable club :wink:
