Society Member Needs Special Ammo

Greetin's from Maine (again)

Howdy once again. As the thermstat on my back porch resembles an icecicle and there is more snow on the ground than actual ground I can't help but feel the need to break out my ol' .50 Chitek Sniper Rifle and remeniss about all the good times we had together.

I know, I know; a .50 high power sniper rifle is more of a war crime than home defense but what the hell. I like things done nice and simple. One shot, one kill, no muss, no fuss.

However, I have one small problem. I ran out of ammo for it shortly after moving to Wyoming on some overgrown bats. Now its like lookin' at a grand ol' dame who lost her pizzazz. So if anyone has seen or heard from good ol' Ron, let him know that Ben is in the market for some .50 HP rounds made with his usually flair.

If Ron has gone the way of the dodo, then this is an open offer for anyone who can help a fella' out.

Well g'night ya'll.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but... for "standard" specialized amunition, there is someone around here who seems to be willing to pawn it off from his own stores without needing to go through any legal traces. If you want store bought Hollow points, just ask and I can point you to a local dealer who can sell you a box or two. Mind you that will be over the counter, from a store, nothing clandestine.

For the truely wierd stuff, talk to Jo Smith. He will make you a steel Jacketed, silver tipped, expanding Sabbat for a .22 rifle if you give him enough time. mind you it will take a while, and cost a bit for research and development...

Ok, let me start off by saying standard ammo? hollow points? .22s ?Buddy you obviously have no idea who the blazes I am.

I am ***dammed Benjemin J. Holister. I am a friggin' legend around this sight. I know my guns & ammo and I know that no one does that better Ron " Friggin" Caliburn.

So who the hell needs hollow points and .22's when he can get me solid brass jacketed, .50 HP mercury rounds. Why just shoot something when you can paint a landscape with it  .

I also need silver rounds and a few rosewood cored rounds. Maybe a few DU rounds for those hard to kill critters. Preferrably in .45 for my two OPSEC auto reloaders, .30-06 for my modified hunting rifle, and of course .50 for my pride and joy. I also have a double barrel 8 gauge shotgun for stopping power and a 12 gauge HP remington for official police buisness.

Yep fella's, I got my sheriff job back too. Man it feels good to be home. Kelly's even reopening The Brick and Carter will reopen The Lazlo Society Annex again if we can get the funding for it.

I didn't relize how much I missed pallin' round with you guys like back in the day; huntin' down Sup'Nats, takin' down crazed cultists, and mud hole stompin' those bad guys. So after talkin' it over with Kelly and Carter, we have decided to devote more of time to help get the Society back on track.

However, I need ammo to do that

So if any of the original crew is out there, for the love of Lazlo, drop a line.

Well G'Night ya'll.

I appreciate the flattery Ben . . . but at one time you were talking about putting me in the crosshairs of that particular rifle . . . makes me a little uncertain about helping you load it.

There are no off the shelf hollow points for the .50 M2 round. But it wouldn't be hard to make them. It would take me a few days to make a bullet mold, but thats about the entire lead time needed.

Since I make my own molds, and cast my own bullets - I can make just about anything.

Aw, come on Ronny boy, that was like a very long time ago. Sides my friend that is like old water under that covered bridge. Sides, I am so damm glad to hear your voice again. Thought you may have met your maker (wearin' a flak vest and sportin' a .30-06).

Anyhow, I really want you, the Society's "Wizard of Weapons" to provide me, the Society's " Best Sniper" with all my ammo needs; exclusively my ol' buddy.

Side's, what ya'hoo thinks you can make hollow point .50 rounds?
1) They DO NOT exist, 2) they would frag the barrel on the way out, and 3) in full auto the weapon would explode in my hands.
That's a common problem with newb's.

Anyhow, glad to hear from Ronny boy. Hope you, Hannah, and Wie are doing great.

Talk to ya' later ol' buddy.

Whatever you say.

You obviously missed the part where I said I would have to make a mold because they are not commercially available. The alloy that you would have to use in in the bullets is much harder than standard bullet alloys, and they would use a protective plastic ballistics cap over the hollow point. Its basically an API round without the phosphorus.

Oh, I heard you. But that would still disintergrate in the weapon. And I like my weapon thank you very much.

Besides, I prefer straight up HP rounds for my .50. Solid cast out of brass (or titanium if I can get them). I use can use straight up high desinty silver (not sterling) by lowering the force of the shot preventing the softer round from loosing much kinetic energy after leaving the barrel.

The best is the silver from the southwest, none better. I buy it in bulk off of Ebay when I can. Picked a bunch of the stuff up when I was in Wyoming but can't do anything with it until I get the required bullet presses.

Titanium is pretty dang hard to come by.

So solid brass with a cavity for silver . . . you planning on loading too?

If possible. I also need some some "similar" ammo for my .45 OPSEC and .30-06. So what do you suggest Ronny boy?

Sterling silver is pretty hard - 92.5% silver with the rest usually copper and a few other elements. Its about a 90 on the brinell scale when cast and water quenched. High velocity bullet lead alloys are usually about a 22-25 on brinell. Fine silver is about the same as the high vel bullet alloy when annealed.

Titanium is about a 200 on the brinell scale and hell on tooling because of its hardness and lack of lubricity. Its also about half as dense as Sterling silver which makes it a poor choice for a bullet. If you need penetration, use tungsten. Just as hard but very dense. A copper jacket is needed. I do not need to offer any advice on the legality of manufacture since you are in law enforcement.

.50 bullet presses are available commercially.

If you are doing brass rounds, like the KTW's, you will need a teflon coating. I don't know if a copper jacket would work since brass is already a copper/zinc alloy. I bet it would, and brass casts so nice.

I often use the solid brass. The titanium I used only on hard targets because of the excellent pentration.

Those rounds went through armor plating like a hot knife through butter. Engine blocks, walls, body armor, tree trunks, and just about any critter that came along too.

I mastered the decapitation by head shot with those babies. I even took out a gargoyle from three quaters of a mile away right through the heart. Dropped that bastard like a bad habit.

But, as ya' said, very hard to come by.

Hi Ben,

I've talked Dad into it. He's still sore at you but he knows that you are still trying to do what's right. Send him a PM with how much and where it needs to go and he'll make some.

Just try not to push his buttons anymore Ben, Dad's been concerned for a while now that you might turn into a danger to the Society if your behaviour gets anymore unpredictable. I know you're not but Dad's pretty suspicions by nature.

Hannah

PS: I even got him to remember he only charges Society members the cost of materials.

Me, unpredicatable. Never happened. I am as steady as the rock of Gilbraltar. I've got me a wife, two kids, a dog, a good job, happy home, and Im a legend round here at The Society.

All I need is a white picket fence and I'll be all set.

Tell him thanks for me just the same lil' lamb, but I got me a guy who has a .50 bullet press on the way up.

But maybe I'll stop buy and pay you guys a visit later on next month.

I would think you of all people would understand the rituals of establishing the alpha male spot.

Yeah, I get it, but I swear I thought that one day they were just going to kill each other, especially after that whole Darken fiasco. Thankfully that is all water under the bridge now and we can all get on with our lives.

Truth be told, Ben does respect Ron and we will have his back if Ron ever needs the help. He's a descent guy with noble heart. Not alot of people could go through what he has been through and still step up to fight the good fight.

He's a rare breed. Alot like my Benji.

Thank you Kelly.

I do know that a lot of the stuff that happened with Ben was either under duress or a supernatural influence. There are also a number of people close to me who do trust him and vouch for him.

Still, make it hard to be entirely comfortable around him.

Same is extended towards you. I didn't like Bloodbane or Celeste because of what they were - but people who I respected said they were okay - so I didn't move. I did play a part of the destruction of each of them in the end - but not as an enemy.

So for now, I'll let people I trust tell me what's best . . . but it doesn't make me feel any easier about you.

If it helps, consider me a bigot for my reaction to what you are . . . but it's nothing about who you are.

Well thank you very much Ronny. I don't hold anything against you. You can't help it and you are no bigot, just timid

Just the compliment for what it is Kell. That is the closest he'll ever come to sayin' "You're ok in my book." that any thing not 100% human is ever gonna get. Actually I'm suprised he is being this civil.
