Hurricane Strangeness

Hurricane Fay has been doing some really weird things for a hurricane. Here's a lsit of what it's done so far.

- Fay struggled as a tropical disturbance yet skipped the depression stage and went directly to a tropical storm as it moved over Hispanola.

- Instead of being torn apart by the mountains of Hispanola, Fay maintained its strength.

- Instead of gaining strength as it traversed the Caribbean, Fay stubbornly clung to its status as a middlin' tropical storm before striking Cuba.

- Fay was predicted to become a hurricane once it crossed into the Gulf of Mexico, but it was having none of that forecast. Fay struck southwest Florida as a 60-knot tropical storm.

- Fay did gain strength over land, a feat that baffled forecasters. The storm produced 65-knot winds and may have momentarily reached hurricane strength as it crossed Central Florida.

- Instead of following the rules and moving into the Atlantic, Fay stalled. Then it lanced back to the West North-west hitting florida twice more for a total of 4 landfalls in Florida.

- Now Fay is lingering as a tropical depression over Louisiana.

All this is just making me wonder about what happened when PSC and I visited the bayou country. I am wondering if this is all a part of whatever was going on that got PSC killed.

That sounds plausible. I had noticed myself that it was an unusual storm, but I hadnt concidered a possible connection.

Well we've caught them monkeying with it before, so maybe they are at it again.
