It's ghost season in Japan

The Japan Times Online is carrying a
story today talking about Japanese ghosts and when they tend to haunt. Here is the start of the article:
If there are eerie goings-on in the neighborhood — and Halloween is still two months off — it could be because Japan's traditional "ghost season" maxes out at this time of the year.
While belief in the afterlife and in wandering spirits kept from peaceful rest can be found anywhere in the world, ghosts in Japan take on a unique persona. Gripping tales of phantasms have been made into Hollywood movies, including the hugely popular "The Ring," serving up story lines featuring grudges, curses and spine-chilling plots.

This is interesting info. Per researchers in the North American region most haunting activity takes place in the fall and winter months. However the 2am to 3am activity timeframes fits our theories pretty well.

I don't know. Perhaps it is just like the article says the different beliefs of the person that left the impression behind has some sort of effect on the entity that assumes the identity.

I concour, but I also follow the theory that the given enviornment the spirit was in life plays a factor as well.
For example, one of my earliest memories was my grandmother backing cookies when I would visit. They smelled so heavenly and were so good. ive never found anoyne who's made them the same way.
A few weeks after she died I swear I woke up to her voice calling my name. The room was dark and I turned on the lights out of instinct. While I didnt see anything, I suddenly smelled her cookies! The smell only lasted a brief moment, but it was so strong you'd have thought they were being baked in my bedroom!
I'd like to think she was trying to let me know she was there with me and used a sort of telepathic transmission using my memory of the smell of her cookies and associating her.
This leads to a theory I am working on and hope to propose soon where Telepathic ability in entities can specifially pick the recipients brain to relay certain sensations to them as a form of communication. Grandma couldnt make herself appear (or perhaps didnt know how) but was able to convey her wish to be known through a smell I associated with her.
The joys of being a parapsychologist is coming up with wild and unproven theories I suppose

That could account for a lot of what my personal research, studies and experience have been. But I have learned with these things for every rule/theory you make there is something that is willing to break it.
I look forward to seeing the full theory once you finish.
