The Airstrip

Well the other night I decided to go out to that deserted airstrip 10 miles outside of town. To investigate that Cesna that has been sitting out there for about a month now.
So I packed up my .45, my 12 gauge, and a my deputy {to make Ei happy}.
I can still do routine police work without an armed escort you all know.
Anyway, we took a cruiser out there about 9:00 PM and decided to check it out. The plane was still there, the door to Chuck's control trailer was flappin' in the breeze, and I was getting a bad feelin' bout all of it.
I pull out my .45, told my deputy to "Get the shotgun ready" and proceeded to check out the trailer. We went inside and carefully did the preliminary search.
Nothing. No blood, no signs of a struggle, no nothing.
So we check out the plane. It had Canadian markings and the door was not locked. So we let ourselves in and looked around.
The plane was also empty, deserted. My guess it was abandoned. Looks like no body touched it in over a month.
So we checked out the last structure; the back power shed.
The door was also open.....so me and the deputy went inside. Thats when we found ol' Chuck. Deader than disco and stiff as a board. Looks like he got fried fixing the generator while nursing a bottle of Jim Bean.
I had my deputy go back to the car and radio it in. I continued to search for the pilot and went back to the plane. Thats when I noticed the bullet casing on the floor of the plane {9mm and some .38's}. So I did some more searching, thats when I discovered the secret compartment in the belly.
Where I found 50 pounds of coccaine and two assault rifles. Great...Canadian drug runners bringing drugs into this country going through my town. So where were the drug runners.
Back up arrived about 10:35 PM, along with forensics, and the coroner.
After a additional 2 hour search, we still found no sign of the drug runners. Why would drug runners just abandon their stash. Sure the plane had a malfunction and was forced to land....but why just up and leave their goods.
Thats alot of nose candy they left behind.
But this being Cypress Cove Im sure we will find them sultilated beyond regonition in a week or so, so no skin off my back. Sent the planes ID and make to the FAA and DEF task force in Bangor. They'll get out here for the plane after the holiday.
So if anyone comes across two horribly mutilated corpses in the woods. Just radio it in and get back to town.
Thanks.
Well back to the BBQ.....its skeet shooting tonight.
