Missing Children Returning on Their Own . . .

Ron just came home. The children that went missing the other night were found this morning. Initially, we had thought it must be another bogeyman. But . . . well, just the fact that they returned argues against it. They say they don’t remember anything. Ron says one even claimed he never left his bed.
There’s no real demographic for it, either. The oldest was six, the youngest just a toddler. One thing they did have in common, though: Ron says they had two small cuts at the side of their neck.
And one other thing . . . rumors of a “bloofer lady” have been circulating the streets.
What’s going on?

I only read the abridged version... A vampiric pedophile? I thought vampires couldn't actually feel pleasure from sex...or is this a different kind of "pedophilia", one which will just make me want to drive a stake through this woman even more than the sexual connotation would've?

...and people talk trash about inner-city public schools.
It's not that deep, KT. It was written in Victorian England -- women were thought too weak to prey on men, so dude wrote her as feeding on kids.
****************
What I wanna know is why an 18th century British phrase is popping up in 21st century D.C. Only thing I can think of is that butchering barber movie with Depp; mighta used some archaic vocabulary. I'll ask my students, find out what they've heard.
I’ll be checking the library very soon . . .

Dracula . . . I’ll be checking the library very soon. Maybe there will be a clue in that book?

First mention is at the end of chapter 13.

My guess is a sicko copy-cat. The S.C.C. either drugs or hypnotizes the kids, cuts them, and lets 'em go. Could be a woman with warped maternal instincts or maybe a transvestite pedophile.
I hate running into those. Make-up gets everywhere.

Um, not last time. Just a quick chokehold until the police arrived.
