Assasination by Crocodile?

YANGON, Myanmar - A crocodile reportedly attacked and killed one of four men under arrest for illegal logging in a Myanmar wildlife sanctuary.

The state-run newspaper Kyemon says the four men were being transported to a detention centre by boat last month when a crocodile knocked the victim out of the boat and killed him.

The dead man, Myint Zaw, and three others were accused of illegal possession of mangrove trees believed to have been cut in the Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary.

The sanctuary, southwest of the country's biggest city, Yangon, was established in 1994.

It is inhabited by endangered saltwater crocodiles that live in the mangrove swamps.

I know there will be folks who decry coincidence on this one, but it makes me wonder if this wasn't a targeted killing by some Shaman or whatever getting some payback for the destruction of natural habitat.

And what do you mean "media hype"? This is one of the shortest blurbs Ron has posted in quite some time. I saw no "hype" in this report, only facts. Questions as to why or how the crocodile killed the man were conspicuously absent from the report.

As for my own opinions... Without being able to go over there, myself, I can't really say. I don't know what kinds of shamans would live in the area, I don't know the relationship of the dead man to the other illegal woodcutters, and so I can't say whether it's paranormal or not. Certainly, I would argue that there's a very good chance that karma plays at least some part in it. Karma doesn't *always* need help...

Or, maybe you'd like to tell us that in the time it took for the authorities to get to those four men and arrest them, the crocodiles in question set up a home, and attacked the boat on the way back? Or maybe you'd like to try and set up the allegation that the authorities in that area don't know their rivers well enough to watch out for things like that?
