Do You Believe?

Do you Believe?
As I listen, in the silence of the night,
I listen and find her real, back with us
Once more.
The darkness of homely shadows envelope us,
Safe and warm once again.
I lie beside her and hear her breathing, a comfort while he is gone.
I count her heartbeats in the stillness of the dark as she sleeps,
And know while he is out we are safe,
Guardians watch us in the grove, mindful, quiet.
At peace.
Thank you.
O please, believe.
I do.

Now Wie's got me crying.
Hannah
PS: I'm gonna go give her a hug and a kick in the butt.

Heh... Hannah, just don't do it at the same time, and make sure your hug has more force than the kick.
As for believing...I know I believe. What I believe, exactly, is questionable, but I do believe.
She is too gentle . . .

She’s too gentle to kick a blind girl when she’s down. Hug, yes. Kick, no.
However, if she really wants to, I’ve given her permission when I’m all healed up. I knew I should have taken a poertry class.

Belief implies the possibility of something, whatever that may be, not being real, or the truth. What we see and do, does not require belief. Usually, seeing the things we all see with our own eyes is more than enough.
More than once, when mentioning being a psychic, I have had someone say "I don't believe in that crap." How many times have I said right back, "Belief is not required." Usually, it's right after that that something happens which makes them question what they believe and understand. Usually, it winds up with a little bit more open eyes, a more closed mouth.

Belief implies that you think something's real, regardless of evidence. You're right, solid evidence doesn't need belief, because it's right there. But sometimes belief is enough. Sometimes a belief is enough to give someone a reason to live.

Belief is the foundation of reality itself. Without belief, there would be no reality.
No, I'm not making a religious statement here, just a philosophical one.

"What is real? How do you define real? If you're talking about what you can see, hear, taste, smell, and touch, then you're simply talking about electrical impulses interpreted by your brain."
Perceptive reality at it's simplest. But then what if one of those senses are taken away? Just because you can no longer see, does that make things any less real? No. Perception is changed, but that is within the person percieving. The nature of reality has not changed.
What about those with psychic ability? They see things through an entirely different spectrum. They are given senses and means to percieve beyond the normal classical five senses. (Really, it's been found that the human body has upwards of 22 senses. Such as the water in cells are used to measure internal temperature, as well as changes in air pressure and other subtle environmental changes. But the classical 5 senses are still taught anyway.) They are more perceptive, but does that mean there is more to percieve? No, that simply means that they are aware of another level or layer of reality that most are unaware of because they do not have the sense required. Though there are many who are without those perceptions that would say that psychics, and us monster hunters and investigators are crazy.
They say this because reality is most often defined by the group consensus. They all see and hear the same things, and can taste and touch the same thing, but say one person out of a hundred sees something they do not. This person hears a call that the rest do not. They can taste something the rest do not. The group doesn't see, or hear, or grasp this call. By group consensus, this one hundredth person is an anomaly. Noone else percieves what they do, so this thing is not there. It must not exist? Right? Therefore said person is crazy, or is living in fantasy, and not reality.

Hello everyone,
When you think about it, there's no such thing as reality, only unreality.
Think about the computer in front of you. Touch it, tap on the keyboard.
Seems solid right?
It's not. In truth that computer in front of you is mostly empty space between molecules. It's only a trick of physics that keeps the molecules in your fingers from sliding into the empty space between the molecules of the computer.
Yet still we percieve it as a solid object.
Why? Because that's the way our brains work. Our minds can only perceive the simplist of concepts in the universe and operate on that level.
But it gets more messed up than that. Each of us brings our own experiences and preconceptions to examine thar perceived reality with. For example, you or I would "see" the keyboard (or rather our eyes receive light reflecting off the keyboard which our brain then transforms into an image in our brains) while someone blind, like Wie, could only "feel" (or rather her nerves detect the faint differences in pressure from contact and our brain transforms it into shape and texture) it. Despite not "seeing" the keyboard, Wie can "feel" it in far more detail than you or I ever could.
So to Wie, the keyboard is a totally different object than it would be for you and I.
The result of all of this coming together is that each and every single person lives in their own unreality and any belief that they can perceive true reality is an illusion.
Hannah
Edited PS: I don't really know where I got that from, it just kinda came to me.

Heh... I talked a bit about that while I was up there with you, Hannah. We discussed quantum physics, then, and you seemed either bored or confused, so I changed the subject... Remember?
By the way... Is next Tuesday through Thursday good for you three?

Truth exists. But it has bases to be covered before it can be labeled as "truth," and it has certain contingents it must follow.
That would be great, Josh.

Reminds me of my boy and my ex wife. I miss them, but in this line of work one makes too many enemies, it's better for them to think I died in back in the '80s , they are at less risk that way.
Thank you, Soph.

Phase-shift is not as simple as that. I have found with the propper training that a person can infact 'slide' between the spaces in molecules. It is simply a shifting of perception and awareness.
Most humans are not capable of something like that, but there are those out there that have learned and evolved their perceptions and beings to such a degree that they can in fact pass through 'solid' objects.
Furthermore, it has been shown, as the quantum physics and mechanics field continues to advance, that it's not truly empty space. If you were to put your hand under a proper microscope, you would zoom down to the molecular level, and then the atomic level, and then, it would go beyond that, you would see that the entire thing is vibrating at such a great speed. Everything is filled with energy, and it is that very energy that makes up everything in the megaverse.
Belief, perception, reality, unreality, however you want to call it, shapes that very energy on a daily basis. It has been proven in several experiments that thought contains energy. (like we didn't know that) The very act of observation contains energy, and thus belief or perception shapes and alters our very universe/megaverse as we percieve it, as we witness it.
To me, this is not philisophical, but science, and it's long been my goal to finally end the fantasy of what it is that we psychics and psionists do. By ending the fantasy, I mean putting it into the realm of fact, though the way things work make study difficult sometimes. For those of us that are psychic, or magic-users, doesn't it ever piss you off to have other people, like the Church tell you that what you do quite frequently isn't real, and is a an 'abomination'? It does me, and I intend to rip the eyes of the world open one day, at least I hope I can, before it all comes tumbling down.

Which is nonsense because reality was there before humans came along to believe it or not.

No, now there's humans who think that they are not only the center of the universe, but the reason for it. What arrogance.

True enough, but humans have forgotten they are not the only thing out there. Well, for the most part.
Some of us know quite well that is not the case.
By the way, Natasha, did you ever get a chance to finish those books I told you about?
