Severed human feet a mystery for Canadian police wrote:VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Police have found themselves with the gruesome mystery of why three human feet have washed ashore on islands in the Strait of Georgia on Canada's Pacific coast over the past six months.
Investigators do not know who the victims were, when they died, or if foul play or an accident was involved.
The cases all involved right feet, and the decomposing remains were still wearing sneakers.
"It is not known at this time what relationship, if any, this (third) foot has with the two feet recovered last year in the same area," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.
The first two were discovered in August and the third was found on February 8. Each was found on a different island in the Strait of Georgia, which separates the mainland and the city of Vancouver from Vancouver Island.
DNA testing on the feet found in August failed link them to any missing person cases. The third foot is awaiting testing.

Arcanist on the loose.
I'd bet Kolya's life on it.

I'm sure you would.
I wonder what they are doing with the rest of the body?

Wendigo. Not teh fool in the comics, or the yeti reference, but the spirits know as "Wendigo" to the area's local tribes, look into it, bet you'll find some correlations.
Wish I had more for you, but I never was the expert on idnetifying em, I am better at the "track and kill" bit myself.

Wendigos usually trigger cannibalistic behavopir - which may explain where the rest of the bodies are.

More body parts washing ashore - this time in Scotland.
Another severed hand found on Scottish beach wrote:LONDON (Reuters) - Police investigating the discovery of a woman's severed head and a hand on a Scottish beach said on Wednesday said they had recovered a second hand.
The gruesome find was first made by two young children playing on the foreshore at Arbroath on Tuesday.
The head had been concealed in a plastic bag and the first hand was found shortly after by police.
A wider search of the area will continue on Wednesday.
Tayside Police said the dead woman did not match anyone reported missing in its area.
"This investigation is in its infancy and it will take several days before we have forensic test results that could shed further light on the enquiry," said Detective Chief Inspector Graham McMillan.
A post mortem on the body parts will be conducted later.
At least this sounds like a matched set.

I don't know if they are even related - but it was close enough to merit a look see.

Well, if it *is* paranormal in nature, and not being committed by the same individual or creature, it seems highly probable that it's the same kind of mage or creature doing the killing...

Well, the Wendigo were, to my understanding, spirits associated with the tribal cultures of the pacific northwest.
Might not be related. There's plenty of nasty business on that side of "the pond" as they put it. If they are connected, you might want to keep a tally on what body parts the perp is leaving behind each time.

On the west cost we have three left feet.
In Scotland aparently it's 2 hands and a head, all from the same body.

Canadian mystery deepens as 4th severed foot found wrote:VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Another severed human foot has been discovered washed ashore on Canada's Pacific coast, but police are no closer to solving the gruesome mystery.
The foot, still wearing a shoe, was discovered on Thursday on a small uninhabited island south of Vancouver in the Strait of Georgia, and is the fourth discovered in the region in the past 10 months.
The previous cases all involved right feet still in sneakers, and each was found on a different island.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have not said if the latest discovery was a right or left foot.
DNA testing has failed to link the earlier discoveries to any missing person cases.
The mystery continues.

I suspect that the incidents in B.C. and in Scotland most likely are not connected. They are a continent and an ocean apart, after all. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is very unlikely.
The MO's also seem quite different.
While I wouldn't discount Windigo out of hand, the consistant left overs of right feet (the most recent hasn't been revealed yet) suggest something deliberate and methodical. Or else an extreme distaste for right feet. That being the case, I suggest anyone practicing martial arts lead with their right feet (J/K).

If anyone has the resources it might be worth looking into the ME's findings in both cases. That might at least tell us whether the incidents are related.

The latest update I read on the 4th foot was that it was a right and it was still in the sock and sneaker.

Yeah, they still haven't matched the feet to anybody who's missing.

It seems a little odd they haven't ruled out accidental death yet, if all four feet were found still stuck in shoes. What with turning up on an island bare feet or flippers would be more likely.
I suppose it's a moot point though, the whole thing stinks of something unnatural.

I think whatever is doing this is moving, each of the 4 feet were found on different islands.
Of course we'd need someone to figure out the drift patterns to come up with a location.
I miss having a geek around.

Well I don't know about the geekiness but I think I can help out. I was considering taking a vacation anyway, I'll head out that way and see what I can dig up.
Whatever I can dig up I'll include in a file and email you, see what you make of it? Off to the airport, I'll be in touch.

Well, so far so good. It was a smooth flight, so I at least got some sleep.
I managed to catch up with an old work contact of mine over lunch and got hold of a copy of the file he put together on the case. It's pretty basic, just times and locations they found the feet and preliminary ME reports, but I've attached some local maps and those tide charts you mentioned. Even through in the weather reports from the times in question, you should get the file anytime.
Anywho, gonna speak with someone from the RCMP later and see if I can't finesse a bit more info out of him. Either way I'm chartering a boat and a guide tomorrow to start touring the islands and check all those sites, probably nothing there now but it's something.
Buzz me if you find anything in the file, I have a satellite connection so I'll be in touch.

Good luck. I'm still tied up here in VT, so I might not be able to have a look at those soon.

RCMP? While you’re talking to them, do you think you could look up a few people for us?
. . .
And thanks for the call, Ron. That made me feel better. I think I had poor Hannah at wit’s end.

Okay, if I find anything I'll PM ya and attach the files to an email. Just don't tell anyone where ya got em, but I guess that's probably a given around here.

Well as dinner's go that was disappointing and confusing all at once. Suffice it to say tomorrow's travel plans are still a go and I'll send the rest of the details via PM.
Just out of curiosity while I'm online, does anyone know where I might pick up some self defense hardware in the area? I couldn't bring any on the plane and I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it, ya know how it goes.

Well, this has been a fun day.
I visited the first three sites no problem. Took some readings, snapped some pictures and recorded video of the sites. Nothing caught my attention right off, but definitely planning to sift through everything later.
Then we get to the last site, some little isle just west of Bowen island, maybe twenty miles from Vancouver. I turn to check if my so called guide knows where we're supposed to be going and the bugger's high tailing it back to the boat. I can barely manage a fast hobble so he was already gone by the time I got the beach, the bastard.
Anyway he didn't get my stuff, so there's that. Plus if he'd wanted to do me in he had plenty of chance, so I figure this is either a really annoying prank or a warning. Regardless I'm gonna keep trying to wave down a passing boat until it gets dark, plenty of traffic out here so chances are good I'll be in Vancouver by nightfall.
Yes I could call for help but I'd rather avoid getting the authorities involved until I know what's really going on.
Also, hooray for satellite's!

I've always been meaning to hook up with one of them sattelite rigs.
Sounds like you have a lead in the form of your boat captain there.
