Hi DK, glad to see you posting again. I know how trouble likes to gravitate to you. Stay safe.

I have a lot of marks, too. 98% of them mental ones.

I mean a dark mark . . . something affecting us at a deeper level than the claws and fangs do.

Each time I go out there, it gets easier to ignore the victim and focus on the monster.

Stay focused, Ron.

I generally do, but occasionally I catch myself.

As long as you catch yourself before it becomes a bigger problem.

Again, I don't know hot to put this into words, so I will probably not say this exactly right. What is happening is not the wear on our morals that our battle brings, I've had that before. This is more like the forcibly overtaking of my soul. It is the uncontrolled urge to be consumed by the something that creates those creatures, the need to fall into the chaos it makes.

Yea, I get it. I'd say you put it in words all right.

I think for now I am as good as it gets these days. I had a rough time in the weeks following losing the dagger, but I have found something that serves the same purpose. It puts a burden on me, but one I can manage.

If you can manage it, then it's OK.

If you can't, then it's time to find something else that you can.

I can manage it. The risks were explained clearly and I understand exactly the price I pay for the protection. Especially when the protection is of my life and sanity.

If it helps put you at ease the protection is a gris-gris made special to my unique needs.

I trust you more than I trust voodoo.

So if you say it's all good, at this point I have no reason to doubt it.

Dark, good to hear from you again!

This seems as good a place as any to post this, but we've been real busy around here, too. What appears to be either a solo operation or maybe even an organized group of arsonists have been raising hell in my area (Igniting gas tanks on cars to rigging gas pipelines and electrical systems in people's apartment complexes to start massive fires - My thanks go out to ComEd for your cooperation in this affair.) We've got a man in custody, so we've yet to see what happens from there.
