I was more worried about people cracking jokes about me, Hannah, and "bareback riding" when we were getting her out of there. Fortunately, either everyone here is decent enough to refrain from such jokes, or they feared a repeat of what happened to Dele Morte. =P

You know us Ron, Don't ask, don't tell. :D

And by the way KT, I don't think that was Dele Morte you guys killed a while back. My ex-partner Thorne has been tracking his activities in Europe since November. :?

So then, what the hell did you guys kill?

Amazing! :D

Uh oh. :( Now, follow me on this one guys:

What we have here is someone with the Wisdom and Understanding of Shang Li and KT, the Stubborness, Tenacity, Stubborness, Determination, Strength and Stamina of Ron, and the best Physical, Weapons, Military, Hand to Hand and Lore training we can put together on top of a natural aptitude for Psychic Powers and Magics.

I think Hannah is gonna put us all out of work

If she chooses to anyway.

If needed I will help Ms. Hannah with some hand to hand training. I understand that swordplay may be inapropriate for this day and age. (Sword vs gun is a bad Idea even at my degree of training) I do however, also practice Aikido, and can teach at least the basic principles and skills. Aikido is a strictly defensive art (at least the form that I use)

Well, there's a reason that to this day American soldiers are still taught knife fighting and continue to carry knives and have bayonette mounts on their rifles. They say "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight", but if a knife is all ya have its still better than going empty handed for they also say "Never attack seven men if all you're packing is a six gun".

So while swordplay isn't the most useful or safest tactic its still better than being unarmed, especially when a lot of our Supernatural Foes don't use guns.

Although, when you can pick up a building and throw it at someone, you don't really need a gun.

Hi Everybody,

You certainly know how ta make a girl feel appreciated. But I ain't done nuthin' yet.

Why do y'all think I need to learn ta fight? I ain't gonna be fightin' anybody. With my Pa around I do't need ta fight anybody.

Hannah

There are plenty of things out there impervious to bullet but easly slain with blade. That's why I have both ready to go.

I'll definitely take all the help I can so she'll be ready for trouble . . . though my preferred choice is to make sure she never has to worry about it.

Well, ideally you (that is to say Hannah) won't ever have to fight anything. However, even discounting the Monsters, Demons and Ghouls we deal with on a regular basis, the world is a dangerous place and everyone should know the bare minimum to protect themselves. And with this crazy group of people you find yourself among, "bare minimum" takes on a wholly new meaning

And I believe you'll find that, like us, once you see what's going on out there in the world, you won't be able to just sit back and watch it. Whenever I rescue children from a Bogeyman, or save someone from a Vampire, or empower a husband and father by teaching him what it takes to keep his family safe, I know why I put my life on the line on a regular basis.

I agree Mr. Caliburn, but if all goes well with life, you will not always be around to protect her. As long as she lives a full life, eventually time will seperate you, and due to age, you would go first.

And that does not take into account "occupational hazards". Better to be prepared without reason than to not be prepared when it becomes necessary. Also a martial art teaches ways to focus the mind and awareness in ways that other things do not.

I would hope, Ms. Hannah, like I have for each student that I have taught, that any skills I teach be found useless for anything other than focus and exersize.

Anyone know how to work on computers? The microphone on mine is broken, so I am having to type my messages and have very little skill with such.

I hear the combat training, the lore, the psi and magic stuff, but what about SURVIVAL training. Its a know fact that most baddies like to reside where we are not. So Im thinking a few weekend camping trips may help too. Teach her the ways of the wild; dowsing, foraging, tracking, hunting, fishing, etc. It wouldn't hurt and you will have some pretty good memories of those trips Ron.

Prior to joining the military, my idea of camping was sleeping on a couch or air mattress instead of a bed.

Bert; you've been round long enough to know that starting a topic around here is like taking a ride on Amtrack, its only a matter of time before it gets derailed. :D

Hi Everybody

I don't know what y'all is gettin' on about with all this training. It's like y'all want me ta be some kind of a warrior.

I'm just a girl. I ain't good at all that stuff. I don't need ta be either.

I know how ta cook and clean and take care of babies and the animals and bandage y'all up already. I don't need ta know anything else.

Hannah

PS: Okay, maybe a little of how ta fight, so I can get away until Pa shows up.

I appologize there Hannah, the folks round here a tad bit paranoid and ahave it in their heads that you are gonna follow in your pa's footsteps.
You are a kid, you need to enjoy life a little. How bout when you get situated I let let ya come on up and stay awhile, if Ron is ok with it.

Ya like horses right, just so happens there's a horse farm down the road where Molly has her ponnie stabled.

I think you two would be great friends.

So you and ya pa think bout it and get back to me.

Sorry Hannah, I got ahead of myself there

Its just that, on a regular basis I meet people that thought they could handle things, they thought they could protect themselves, and then they meet someone or something that nobody in their right mind is equipped to deal with and they or the people they love come to a bad end because of it. I just want you to be safe.

“just” a girl? Hardly . . .

No, Hannah. You are most definitely not “just” a girl. Remember to put the “special” after the “a” to that statement. Anyone that can make Ron smile is unique.

Celeste is right Hannah, as near as I can tell your dad hasn't really stopped grinning from the time he saw you come out of that S.U.V. :D :D :D
As for the Idea of you getting trained in Basic self defense tactics, well most of us understand that because we are out there trying to stop the fires as you put it. Means that we have to be away from the people we care about and love, and at those times we can't be there to protect them. And there are those that would seek to hurt us through our families. So we encourage them to know how to at least defend themselves, till we or maybe someone we trust can get there and deal with the problem.
So no they are not trying to turn you into a hunter like you dad just yet. Thou considering you are your father's daughter I have a feeling you may yet decide to be one as you get older, you can never say just what will happen as time progresses?

Maybe we have Master Li teach a juniors self defense class for Molly, Hannah, and KT's kid.

{And lord knows how many kids Bert has floating around}

*Smacks Ben upside the head*

I do not have any kids floating around!

And, I have to agree with ya about Shang Li teaching the kids. After they've grown up some, if they're interested, I'd be more than happy to teach them the Hand to hand style I learned in SpecOps. In fact, Hannah is mature enough now I think that I'd be willing to teach her and Ron together if they wanted.

Don't forget to let the kids be kids. There will be time later to let them face the harsher realities of life, for now let them enjoy the short childhood that they get.

Self-Defense classes are good to teach discipline and gun safety classes probably are not a bad idea either, but I wouldn't go much further until they are old enough to understand.

All excellent ideas, particularly the bit about letting them be just kids for as long as they can. Thou it is rarely long enough. :(

She will know enough to get her out of a bad situation. But otherwise, she has 14 years of "normal" life to catch up on and I hate to take up her time with other stuff.
