The fact that the bug knew mom and I are descendants before we knew for sure really pisses me off. I understand why Zack didn't tell us, it's because he wanted to be absolutely sure they were one and the same before he said anything.

Bert - I'll have that relayed to Capt. Scooter. At this point, I think they'd be more than willing to listen, anyone who was working prior to the Jeremiah incident has no doubt in their minds that there is much, much more to this world than any of us originally knew. It's gotten to the point where I don't have to filter what I talk about to the captain, and some of the other officers anymore.

Anyway, I was fleeing the scene, injured. Whiskey was with me, she was really worried about how much I was bleeding, but to be honest, I didn't really care at that point, because I knew those things were hauling ass when simply going the speed limit down a residential section wasn't losing them as quickly as I would have liked, until I heard gunshots, and it suddenly stopped chasing me. I was speeding through the streets, trying to figure out where I should go- there are probably more than one of these creatures, they're obviously intelligent, and they seem to know where to look for people, so I chose not to go to a nearby hospital. Instead, I pulled over in a Wal-mart parking lot to dress my wounds and get ready for a longer drive, to a hospital I know of in Aurora. While I was wrapping my waist, however, I heard officer Reid over the radio, requesting more backup, and letting everyone know that his partner was down. He reported that the creature had gone the same direction as I had fled,He didn't have a clue what had attacked him, so I radioed back that if he was able, he needed to get his partner into safety. I stated that we needed to get out the high caliber arms, and break out the riot equipment. After I got back out of the vehicle to finish wrapping the cut, I got pretty dizzy, and had to sit back down again. Realizing that I wouldn't be able to drive as far as what I wanted, I radioed in again that I needed to be picked up at that particular parking lot. I heard someone reply that they were en route, so I sat back and waited, thankful that the parking lot wasn't empty, so that I didn't stick out quite as much in the mass of cars. Unfortunately, that made it harder for the ambulance to find me, and by the time they started searching the parking lot, I had already passed out from exhaustion.

Zack, on the other hand, had his hands full trying to convince my mother that she needed to go into hiding.

Is Scooter a common American name?

Quite uncommon actually.

Disturbingly close to Skeeter.

Scooter is a type of child's riding to that moves fast, or "scoots."

Skeeter is a slang term for Mosquito.

He got the nickname because we were all sharing stories as a bonding exercise. His happened to be about the time when he, as an adult, decided it to be a fun idea to ride a scooter down a particularly steep hill, the... I wanna say it was the front wheel broke, and long story short he ended up with a broken wrist and a screwed up nose. None of the rest of us wanted to share embarrassing stories, so we ended up giving him a nickname as a result of his story. It stuck, but he really doesn't seem to care...

Having my hands full is an overstatement. Logos, said she had herself taken care of, and that her own wound wasn't that bad, so I decided to get the only other descendant we know of to safety, before she ended up injured, too. She wasn't willing to come along for a ride to a safehouse. Afterall, She never has gotten along with me, and she distances herself from Logos a good portion of the time, so she was less than cooperative when it came time for me to try to get her to safety. There were some crude accusations that I had "finally come to do her in", and whatnot, so I invited her to contact the police (Via the non-emergency number, they had their hands full at the time), rather than Logos who was no doubt very busy right then . Well, she finally got in contact with someone who could confirm that Logos was injured by something inhuman. Unfortunately, that individual on the other end of the line *ahem* was unaware of the fact that she was being shipped off to a hospital in an ambulance after passing out. Mrs. McConnor, still feeling like this was no proof that she was in danger, reluctantly agreed to accompany me, but only if her husband could come along, and she refused to ride in my "rusty piece of garbage" as she so kindly has taken to calling my car... not that it bothered me any, that she wouldn't ride along. In-laws, gotta love 'em. Shortly after I got home, I checked my messages. It sent chills down my spine, I... *ahem* I don't think I'll ever forget that message...

It was one of our friends, from the force, letting me know that Logos had been hospitalized. Fortunately, he let me know which hospital to go to, so I immediately rushed off to go see her. When I got there, she was in stable condition, and had regained consciousness. I kneeled at her bedside, and apologized for not telling her that I had more than just suspicions about her heritage. Naturally, she was angry, and her mother decided that this was yet another sign that I was a deadbeat - I had lost my badge, I almost got her daughter murdered, I kept her in the dark on several occasions... and it clicked with me, and don't remind me, I know what everyone's going to say... but it clicked - I'm worthless, totally undeserving of Raem, and *ahem* Mrs. McConnor was totally willing to tell me exactly that. I decided it'd be a good idea at that point just to let Raem rest for a while... I'm not sure if that was the real reason I left right then, or if it was shame that made me leave, but one way or another, I was gone. I went home to collect my thoughts, many of which agreed at the time with Mrs. McConnor.

By the way, Duam, yes, the bug is dead, and Logos is getting better with each passing hour, it seems.

Well I don't know all the details but I tend to support Kolya's assertion that information is essential. But I certainly know that info voids are sometimes not a bad idea.

Yeah, I know. She tends to think that even if she knew she WERE a descendant, she wouldn't have known that something like that would have been coming for her, especially *ahem* not at her favorite place to take breaks at. And I'm OK, now, really, I am. I'm describing the problems I was having during our break, her conflict tended to be more of a life and death one, and mine... well, I let things eat at me way too much. As for the rest of the story, there's really not much to tell. The captain set all units on a search and destroy mission for the insect hunter, but ordered our regulars to stand down. They were to report it's location, nothing more. The bug was actually called in, seen by Logos' neighbor's entering her back yard. This was more than enough information for the captain to dispatch SWAT on the creature, and unfortunately for it, their machine guns made short work of it. Unfortunately for them, it wasn't short enough work that one of them got pretty screwed up. A pretty decent gash in his shoulder, and a fairly deep stab wound in his stomach, even after all this time, he's still bedridden in the hospital (My best wishes, Officer Randall)

My offer still stands to supply training for your precinct. Plus I'll be able to spend some time on it and not cram everything into a few days like before.

Sorry for the delays. Bert, I spoke with the captain, that'll be just fine. Thanks!

Great! In a week or two I'll load up on training supplies and head up there. I'll want to talk to everyone in charge first though.

Thanks so much, Bert, I'll have to attend, too. I did, afterall, miss your last camp.

GS, I really appreciate the offer. I couldn't get to any computer terminals while we still needed the help because I was stuck in bed for a while... Zack, I'm sure, had his own reasons for not contacting the people who COULD HAVE HELPED US. I'll be sure to take you up on that next time we need your help, though.

Kolya, the artifact has been helpful, not harmful. Belladrox would still be stuck in my head if not for it.

K, please don't feel bad about this! You couldn't have known that thing was going to attack, especially not Logos. I met you, you're a grewat guy, and you two love each other very much. Don't let the old- um, don't let ANYONE tell you differently. (sorry, Log!)

Besides, we still have no clue where the hell it came from anyway. I'd love to find that out before we say who's fault this REALLY is! (hint, hint, Shad!)
