I've gotten back from the town again. Things were much different than before, extremely quiet. After spending some time down in the caves, I found some old papers that looked of interest and an odd knife.

I am going to look at them this week and see what I can find out.

Old papers?

Like newspapers? A notebook?

A little of both and then some. I found an old journal, some paper clippings, a couple of what looks like scientific studies done in various locations in North and South America.

There was a room that we didn't notice the first time we were down here (but then that might have been because I was not at my best). I found all of the stuff in it. The knife is quite interesting, although I am still working to place the craftsmanship of it.

Would you send me a copy of the papers, as well as pictures of the dagger?

I may be able to assist you in determining their intended purpose.

Mysterious. Careful what you turn up.

What's this about a knife?

It was sitting there with the papers. I looks like an old ceremonial dagger of some sort, but I still am not sure where it is from.

As for the papers, as soon as I get some organization to them and digitize them I will send them on. I am going to need a few days though, as my real job is keeping me busy these days.

So how you feeling otherwise?

Does it look used or just old?

Otherwise, I am feeling somewhat better these days. Very overworked, but otherwise better. Somehow having the dagger near seems to be helping.

Ron, the dagger is old. I've had a professor at one of the universities here in Pittsburgh take a look at it and he said it is from the 12th century and mostly like came from Spain or Portugal.

The papers have finally been organized though. There are what appears to be multiple journals from various people through history. I am still translating and reading through most of them (a lot of Latin and Spanish), but at least one seems to be an explorer that went to Honduras after Columbus went there.

You are spending some time in Latin America. We could actually use some representation from that part of the world.

Wait . . . you’re feeling better because of an inanimate object? Why? Is it purely psychological do you think, or is it . . . something more?

I am almost certain it is something more.

I just hope it is not a rune weapon.

Mr. DarKnyht, does the dagger have any markings on it perhaps along the blade or hilt? If so maybe you should have Mr. KonThaak or one of the other mystics look at it.

I wouldn’t blame the dagger exclusively for Erik’s feeling better, but it does sound suspicious.

I would not go that far, yet.

I have an idea what everyone is thinking and no I sensed nothing wrong with the dagger. Nor when I checked did I notice anything invisible hanging around it that most people would not see.

As for the markings, 'ut accendo' is engraved on the blade along with some symbols. The blade itself has been well cared for but does show some signs of it's age. It looks like the hilt was replaced in the past 100 years.

As I learn things I will keep everyone posted. If I get some free time, I might see if Michael T is willing to have me visit so he can examine the dagger. However, it is not going to be soon though.

For now, I think I am safe enough.

You can shoot a copy of the runic inscription to Natasha if you like.

And I hope those don't become your famous last words. I know you're careful, but, still, be careful.

Ut accendo?

It sounds like latin.

That's not latin.

DK, any signs that the dagger has been used?

Take apart the hilt, hard to get any blood residue out of there before it causes rusting.

Actually, it is latin. A very rough trans;ation is "when to rouse up".

Just checking. Har har.

Vasily says it means "when to set ablaze".

Either don't sound too good.

No they don't sound that good.

I am also curious if the dagger is improving his mood when it is around or if these events just happen to coincide.

If it is a rune weapon, than that is a definite possiblility.

And yes, before you say it, we know that you hate rune weapons. Oh, and they don't like you much either.

I'm fine with that.

And if it is, keep it out of anyone's reach, including your own.

One rune weapon is more than enough for me.

Sorry. I was talking to DK.

If you need help with that Rune weapon of yours though. Let me know.
