If I'm going to be Molly's primary caregiver, I'll have plenty of years of time.

She's right, Bert. Julian's only almost 9 months old right now; as time progresses, we're watching our free time dwindle, and we have precious little enough of it as it is...

Molly must be being extremely well-behaved for you, lately, but she's still a kid. It's gonna catch up with you.

GS: By all means, go ahead!

Natasha: Interesting stuff. I say interesting, because the runes I use can be re-used, and aren't necessarily spent when they're activated... Of course, mine don't produce the kinds of intense results yours do, so perhaps that has something to do with it. Less potent power doesn't burn out my runes like they do yours...

We'll have to talk sometime, compare notes, and figure out what the difference is. I'll get to my rune magic later.

As I can add much about sorcery, if any one has anything specific they would like an over view of please ask. Worse case I tell you you are not cleared for that information. :P

I can also add information on some necromancy, summoning and basic circle magic. Runes are not something I dabble in yet, as Natasha stated it is hard to do much besides study a new form of magic. I have alot I still need to diciepher from my mentor's collection of spells to try and start anything new.

The only information I'm holding as taboo for this thread is the "how to" info...

Sure thing. I am about to get ultra busy, but we can at least shoot an email back and forth or something until things settle down a bit.

Sorcery is the most scientific of the forms of magic... It involves a great deal of study on the principles of different forms of energy, how each one can be utilized, formulae and principles relating to how much energy would be required for different desired effects.

I've noticed it helps to have a background in eastern martial arts, as they tend to intuitively utilize the same forms of energy, to pretty good effect. Just ask Willie! He and I use the same energy; the biggest difference is in the methodology... He uses the energies intuitively in a raw sense, which requires no ability to sense what he's doing with the energy, in much the same way that one doesn't need to feel where the bullet is traveling to make sure it arrives safely in a gun's chamber, ready to fire. As for Michael T, myself, or other sorcerors, the ability to sense what we're doing with the energy is nothing short of vital.

Using sorcery is almost like performing a math test in rapid motion. One is constantly figuring, expending enough energy for the desired effects, without overexpending oneself, and running short. It does get easier with practice, just as driving a stickshift car gets easier with practice... It isn't that the action itself gets easier, but rather that one becomes more comfortable performing it.

Energy is spent and manipulated through a variety of means... Some sorcerors focus on the spoken word, while others will use their hands to draw arcane symbols in the air. Some will go so far as to tattoo symbols onto their arms, and use those to focus their energies. Still others will use a wand or a staff, or some other magical implement... Whatever the means, the methodology is usually very similar from one sorceror to the next.

Sorcery is a wide field, wider even than mysticism... It takes on many forms, but almost all of them have a more scientific approach than does mysticism. I'll start getting into those soon; for now, I'll let Michael T add anything he wishes to this overview...

Magic is fascinating. I pretty much had the same reaction as DarKnyht the first time Natasha put hers to work.

Hi,

I thought diabolism means to do evil magic? It comes formt he same word as diabolic.

Hannah

PS: Not trying to say anything bad about Natasha.

It may mean that, but that is not what she does. Think of it more as "cunning like a devil" than "evil like a devil" since a successful diabolist has to be cunning.

Cunning, and pretty damn smart.

I thought it was more because you had ta study an' work with demons.

Hannah

PS: Not sayin' anythin' bad 'bout Natasha, we all know she wouldn't.

No working with demons.

I think it's wrongly named myself but no one asked me.

I belive the name comes from the fact that on the world Diabolism originates on Runes became the evil magic due to the way the big way went, Rune magic became a very clear reminder of evil unleashed in anger.

Could definitely use a name change though.
