It's not that I'm saying that secret handshakes don't have their place in security. It just seems to me that it would make more sense to release it as a mass-PM to trusted members.

Which is why I've always just assumed that this was a clever rouse to psyche out those wishing harm to the forums 'legitimate' membership.

That in turn brings us to the, almost cartoonish situational comedy. Those who are clever enough to use the internet are also clever enough to spot a possible rouse. And clever enough to know that the perpetrators of the rouse must realize it seems like a rouse which could be a bigger deception...

And so forth.

Still, mass PM seems to be the way to go. And that being the case, I've noticed that I haven't received any such correspondence!
