Well DK, your fortunate that I keep a stock of less than lethals with me for dealing with innocents who are not fully aware of the true nature of the situation.

So you have had a lot of crazy people trying to brain you with an Iron poker?

Probably happens every day.

How'd you know? It's hard won reflexes from dodging Bert's smacks to the back of the head.

I think I have recovered enough of my own thoughts to be able to explain where I was and what happened. Just be aware that some of what I am going to say might just be my own perception and not what happened in reality. The two were so blurred that I am still not positive exactly what did happen.
As I said before, my mind started being affected by whatever was in the town. It was slow, at first only being an occasional noise or whisper in the dark. Eventually I was seeing long dead friends, enemies, and horrors that even now make me shiver. I found Nikki a day after I explained that I was leaving the journal behind, at least I think it was a day. It would be probably more correct for me to say that she found me.
We located a stream near the town and put the emergency kit I carry to good use. The water purification pills probably prevented us from getting sick, which given my deteriorating mind would have been disastrous. Nikki slowly stopped looking like a little girl to me and quickly became something of an angel. As we approached the town or at night there was a halo around her, at least I thought there was one. Even now I would swear that she became more understandable and capable also.
Most of the time I was not sure what time it was and it felt like I was out of sync with reality, but then it might just be that I was slowly losing my mind and sanity. She would lead me into the old town, and we would search the buildings there while trying to avoid being detected. It was like she was searching for something, but I was slowly becoming little more than the big guy that could move things and kill creatures.
At some point I figured out that iron worked against the creatures and started carrying an iron poker. It was probably good that I forgot for the most part about my gun, I am not sure if I would have used it against the creatures or on myself.
But we continued on, the two of us somehow managing to stay alive and relatively safe until that night I tried to take off GhostSpider's head.

I just know that's going to come up at the next lazlo society party.
"Hey, you guys remember that time, you know. That time where DK almost took off Ghostspider's head."
(Crowd laughs)
"Good times."

Yeah, probably as much as "You remember that time DK went crazy."
To which there will probably be the reply of, "Which time are you referring to?"

Can we please stop making the snide comments about Ben? I mean, he’s not even here to defend himself.

Hence the reason we make the comments.

That’s why you shouldn’t make such comments.

You may be Angel, but I would not be surprised to see a little more elsewhere.
