What Does the Government Know?

Post by Ronin »

A thread in the war stories section has gotten me to thinking. Does the US government know more about the paranormal than they let on?

There is the conspiracy belief that during World War Two, the navy was working with cloaking devices and may have stumbled upon teleport technology.

It is even suggested that time travel, or at least temporal anomalies may have been discovered.

Then there is the well known and well documented research that was conducted on remote viewing.

Even sceptics have an opinion on this particular subject.

As I've already mentioned, China also researched this. Russia is also purported to have expended their resources investigating remote viewing.

Surely the government must have come across the truth with all this research and investigation.

So why remain silent?

It's about control.

In the altruistic view, those in the government have this misguided idea that they will save lives by not panicking the population. In truth they strip us of our defences and leave us vulnerable to any large scale incursion.

In the cynical view, they are striping us of our defences in exchange for the possibility of power in a new world order.

In the doomsday view, the government has already been infiltrated by something from the other side and is stripping us of our defences in advance of something distinctly unpleasant.

The truth? Probably all of the above.

I am inclined to agree with the first two views, Mr. Caliburn. As to the third... I cannot say it is impossible.

But I believe you have the right of it. It is about control.
