How Prepared Are We - Demonic Threats

Post by Holister »

By now many of us are used to such creatures and have encountered them personally at least once. My concern is the variety of the demons, their various strengths, weaknesses, and their habits. When confronted, how do determine the best methods to deal with these creatures.

This thread is devoted to demons -

I am looking for personal experiences, knowledge on demonology, religious beliefs, demon behavior, stengths, and weaknesses, the psychology of those who follow these creatures and their influence over humans, strategy and tactics, and methods on identifing demons in disguise.

Demons tend to be of 2 sorts, destroyers, and manipulators.

The destroyers tend to be less intelligent and far easier to track, as their thirst for death and destruction makes it impossible for them to remain hidden for long, a decade or two at the most.

The manipulators see time very differently than we do, with plans that span centuries - and the truely frightening ones have the patiens to wait. The manipulator will most often be seen leading cults, and whispering in the ear of it's all too human pawns, leading them to kill and torture in it's name instead of taking a personal hand.

By The Way, this thread and the one on true arcanists should have pointers to them from the cults thread since the demons and students of the arcane seem to be the center most of the cults that pose an actual threat.
Understanding, is not a thing that comes swiftly, but rather in stages, a journey that once begun, must be seen to it's end.

Wise as always Master Li. But we need more input too. With all the encounters and experiences we have had here, not alot of info provided for this topic.

Well they are scattered all over the boards here. After all that's sort of the whole point of this site, isn't it.

Just trying to consolidate for those newer member or guests who don't have the time to scroll through five years of Lazlo Society history.

I like what Mr Hollister is going for here, kind of a primer on dealing with the weird world. Demons, REAL demons, are maybe the simplest topic here though. If you think you've found one, get the hell away from it and call someone who knows how to deal with them.

Seriously, they are viscous, smart and scary powerful. I only met one and the encounter didn't end well for me, but I'm alive so that's something. Best of luck to anyone who runs across one.
